This four lesson bundle starts by introducing learners to revenue, costs and profit. Each of these is broken down to the core, students will get it! Lots of calculation practice to consolidate this. A 9 mark question with a case study and model answer for students to aspire to and peer assess with. A lesson with a game where students are in groups and must make the most profit by charging the best prices for their business, a live scoreboard to see which team is performing the best. Break even is broken down to the core also, and again lots of calculation practice. A task to draw BE graphs, the spec doesn’t require this but it will extend their knowledge on the topic. This lesson introduces learners to the various stakeholders and how they can conflict with shareholders priorities. We start by looking at the different types of stakeholders involved in a business, we then look at their key interests, followed by evaluating the most important interest for each stakeholders. Once students know the interests well, we can start to look at how stakeholders might conflict with each other - a few examples given here. We read a case study on Unilever, students prepare presentations on whether they should focus on shareholders or stakeholders, this is in the form of a 20 mark question so students could answer it after the presentation, or for homework. This lesson introduces learners to the competitive environment in which businesses operate in, we start by looking at a list of different markets/industries, to gain an insight to the different levels of competitiveness in each. We also look at factors that determine the competitiveness of a business before identifying ways a business can compete. Students have the opportunity to learn about the gaming market with a case study and exam style question, balancing the benefits and costs of operating in a large, competitive market like gaming. This double lesson introduces learners to organic growth, we start by looking at the problems of rapid growth from the previous lesson before looking at the methods of organic growth and their advantages and disadvantages. We then go on to read a short case study on a ready meal manufacturer based in Bradford, who have grown organincally since 1979. A 10 mark question on this with structure guidance and a concise model answer provided, to help students peer assess against the criteria. This is followed by a research task for students to find a company that has grown organically (link for poundland given if students struggle to find), they then present their findings back to the class - structure for this is provided too. We start by looking at the concept of elasticity with an engaging Eastenders starter, we learn the key formulas needed to tackle any PED questions before looking at examples of some inelastic products. This set of resources includes 1x PPT, 1x set of group task cards and 1x word case study, this can be delivered over two lessons. Learners are introduced to demand and the various factors influencing demand. We look at movements in the demand curve through price first before going through each factor with relevant examples such as using Messi and Ronaldo adverts to highlight the impact on demand for football boots. We also look at how this can be shown on diagramatically on demand curves. We then go on to ‘Walkthrough Westfield’ which is a group activity, students are given a set of factors which affect demand, and then through our virtual walkthrough we stop at different shops, students have the opportunity to dicuss and rank the factors for that particular shop (encouraging application and evaluation). Students then read a concise case study and answer an 8 mark question, structure guidance and model answer provided for peer assessments. Two links to kahoot quizzes and a box plenary to finish with.
