This list can be used by teachers, librarians, parents, guardians, reading mentors and students. The goal is to make it easier to give age-appropriate and interesting book recommendations to their students.
This list is designed for KS3 students between the ages of 11-12 (Year 7 in England/Wales, Year 8 in Northern Ireland and Year S1 in Scotland).
The list includes a range of useful information, including:
Book titles
Authors
Genres
A short blurb
Age rating (from Common Sense Media)
Number of pages
Content warnings (from Storygraph)
Related texts (if the book is part of a series)
You will also gain access to a FREE “Reading Bookshelf” to share with your students.
This can be uploaded to your virtual learning environment (all book covers are hyperlinked, meaning students can continue to research and learn more about the titles).
It can also be printed and displayed in your classroom/library for students to reference throughout the school year.
I hope you find this resource useful in your classroom and instruction.
