I have been a secondary school science teacher for 9 years and have just started using more resources that pupils can use in their interactive notebooks. I have found these are going down very well with pupils and they are using them throughout the year to revise and recap. All my resources are tried and tested and are up to date with the new curriculum at KS3 and KS4.

Just one sheet of A4 to print out. Pupils cut along all the dotted lines and fold down the middle. They then stick the key words onto the outside to give the pathway of the reflex arc. It includes stimulus/receptor/sensory neurone/synapse/relay neurone/synapse/motor neurone/ effector/response. There are two versions, one has an example on the other side so they can put it into context. Pupils can also colour in the key words if they want to.

These tick sheets are designed to use as a starter, plenary or revision aid for the homeostasis module (B5) of the new AQA GCSE science Biology topic. There is a master copy with all the tick sheets on and a file for each one so you can print them out lesson by lesson. They also have key words at the bottom and are great for seeing which bits kids are struggling with . See my other resources for all the other tick lists.

AQA Required Practical 2 Osmosis in Potato Chips - presentation and worksheet

An easy to follow presentation and worksheet allowing pupils to carry out the required practical on osmosis in potato chips. It includes a worksheet with two tables - one for results and one for making up solutions of salt. I have also included an order sheet for apparatus. The powerpoint takes pupils through the practical and has answers to all questions as well as example data and an example graph. This has worked really well with all of my classes right through year 9-year 11 and all abilities.

They have questions and multiple choice answers with the correct answer in bold and underlined. They also show which grade the question is and if it is higher or foundation (higher is in italic). Very useful for last minute revision for pupils to test each other.

KS3 Biology Key Word Revision Cards

These are general biology key word cards, print them double sided then cut out the cards. The key words are on one side and the definitions on the back. They are brilliant for all sorts. Pupils can test each other, test themselves. Some of my pupils have blank cards and draw images to go with each term then play pairs with them. They are very versatile and very effective. I use them with KS3 but they could be used with any year group/key stage.

Exploring Science Year 7 - Start/End of topic multiple choice quizzes for all topics

10 Resources
I use these with my year 7's to show progress and to plan for future lessons. At the start of the topic they do the test by just highlighting the answers they think, we quickly mark and make a note of what they get. At the end of the topic we do the test again to show how far they've come. It's really motivational for lower ability students as they might get lower marks but they usually always make progress which boosts confidence.
