If you have never played before, the student who has the card that reads: I have the first card... will start. They then read the Who Has...? section in which another student will have the answer to that question on their card. The game continues from card to card to card. As we all know, independent reading at home has a huge impact on students' success in the classroom. Building stamina in our children while they read independently is extremely important. This simple bar graph template provides a great tracking system for the minutes of independnet reading per night. There are 15 columns for potential bars to track anywhere from one to thirty five minutes of reading. Students and parents are therefore able to track and take ownership over this growth and development. It also serves as a great resouces of documentation. The directions and template included describe the experiment and offer a template to record, collect, and analyze data. Students will need three cups set up, one cold, one hot, and one room temperature. They will drop food coloring in each and record what they see in minute increments. Through this experiment, they will understand how temperature impacts the diffusion and dissolving rate of a liquid into another liquid (through a very visual way).

Students will look at various parts of their world and decide which is most appropriate. The second page is a neatly organized table graphic organizer where students will estimate the feet and inches of various things in their classroom. This can either be done in partners, independently or as a a whole class.

Increase student engagement with this Tic Tac Toe choice activity on Geometry. You can set it up as you like for students to have to include the middle box or a right side, etc. The idea is that students pick three assignments in a row to complete. They are all project based. This can either be implemented as a homework, where students do one a night, or as an in-class assignment in which students complete one a day. At the end of the week, presentations can be completed. This is a great way to increase participating and engagement in learning and homework. Topics include polygons, 2-dimensional shapes, quadrilaterals and sides and angles of shapes.
