This resource bundle contains 3 lesson starters / activities for a KS3 Art & Design class
The theme of the worksheets is Portraits, though it would also work as a generic starter in Art, or even as cover work.
Feel free to ask me any questions
This is a resource I have created for my current setting: I work in an alternative provision for excluded young people and I have identified a large number that have difficulties with appropriate social interactions and social skills
This resource would work for KS3-4
The pages can be modified to suit individual settings
These can be used on a display and referred to throughout the day to support with the social skills of young people
I will be uploading a range of interventions / emotional literacy resources over the upcoming weeks
Feel free to message me with any questions
This is a PowerPoint presentation I created for a job interview a while ago.
It is based on Perspective Drawing (one and two) and is Art & Design focused.
Feel free to ask any questions.
A very simple cover lesson I designed for KS3 classes to set as cover in D&T.
The theme of the lesson is logo designs and this self-explanatory sheet works well for non-specialist teachers.
Feel free to ask me any questions.
This is a cover lesson I set for my KS3 Year 7 class who were in the Resistant Materials stage of their curriculum.
A very simple lesson that requires computers for the best possible outcomes.
Feel free to ask any questions.
This is lesson 1 in a KS3 (year 8) Food project I have written.
PLEASE NOTE: The Food & Nutrition resources were all designed in the 2020-21 academic year when I taught this subject. I have since left the role and have not been back and checked for any links that no longer work.
As I create the lessons, I will upload them individually. Once I have the full scheme of work uploaded, I will create a bundle!
L1 - Bacteria & Food Poisoning
Please note: The lessons are designed with online learning in mind, due to the current circumstances. They are easily adapted however, to work when practical lessons are back up and running!
If the formatting is off when you download it, this may be due to my font choice, I apologise in advance (Century Gothic).
Any questions please ask me :)
A series of displays I created for my classroom
Colour theories, Pantone and Swiss Design
I use these in my young offender Graphic Design classroom but they would work in any creative environment
This is a worksheet I created when teaching KS3 Resistant Materials. The classes I taught were mixed ability and I have made this activity differentiatable as a result.
I delivered the activity by first discussing each piece of equipment with the class and showing them the physical object. You then have two options: cut and stick the definitions by pairing them up (used for EAL, SEN and lower ability) or by writing the definitions in the correct boxes.
This works well as a small group activity and as a competition!
Feel free to ask any questions.
These are a series of worksheets and information I have collated into a full project.
The theme of the project is MASKS & IDENTITY
Within the project, there are a number of mini sections relating to different mask types. I have uploaded these individually (see below) as they are perfect for cover / homework / one off lessons. I will also upload the full project once I have added the finishing touches.
Available worksheets:
Artists - Cindy Sherman / Marcus Coates / Haus-Rucker-Co
Cultural Map
Day of the Dead
Drill Music
Festima
Filipino Dinagyang
Halloween
Music
Superheroes
Symmetry
Venetian Carnival
Each upload contains a PowerPoint and PDF. I created the resources on a MacBook and sometimes Windows PowerPoint can open the fonts and formatting slightly off, so I wanted to offer both versions! You can also edit the PowerPoint to make it suitable for the students you teach.

'Did you know that fashion trends are a cycle and often repeat themselves a few decades later?
You will be shown some fashion trends that we still see today, can you guess if they originated in black culture?
Black culture doesn’t always stem from a country of black origin; due to colonisation, slavery and immigration black culture has travelled across the world.’
PowerPoint provides a series of fashion trends and encourages young people to identify whether or not they originated from black culture.
A sheet is provided to print and answer onto.
Answers and information are given for each, plus additional images showing where each trend originated from
The trends in the quiz are:
Hoop earrings
The mullet
Logomania
Heavy eyeliner
Snap backs
Acrylic nails
Trainer culture
Dr Martens
Braids

This upload is a task that can be run in different group or 1:1 sessions.
Full Room – perfect for group situations
Print out the labels of AGREE, DISAGREE and DON’T KNOW/MAYBE
Stick them across the room (ideally agree and disagree on either side and don’t know in the middle)
Read out each statement and ask the class/group to stand where they feel they would respond to each statement
You can then pick individuals to ask why they have chosen to stand there/why they think that
Try to encourage free thinking rather than following their friends!
Smaller Group – perfect for small groups or 1:1 sessions
Print out the labels of AGREE, DISAGREE and DON’T KNOW/MAYBE
Print out all of the statements
Lay the labels of agree/disagree/don’t know out across the table
Ask the young people to work together or to do the task individually and to place each statement next to the appropriate answer to show how they feel about it
You can then ask why certain statements have been placed in certain places
These can help to encourage deeper thinking and to challenge thoughts about the topic.
I also have a range of BHM factfiles with lots of information and quotes - see my other uploads!

I created this resource for the delivery of the NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Art & Design (Unit 02).
The activity is very interactive, encouraging the learners to cut out the various examples of the formal elements within art and graphic design and then match them up in the boxes with the names & definitions.
There is also the answer sheet included, and this can be used as a display or laminated for reference in lessons.
I have used this resource with young offenders and it proved highly successful. It can also be used as a recap to check learner understanding.

The theme of the scheme of work was African Plank Masks
