I used this alongside the Jungle Book to support my year 5 class in writing their non-chron report about plastic pollution. The unit includes a wagoll and overviews for 6 lessons. It also includes an example plan.

The purpose of this unit is to re-write the Jungle Book story in the children’s own words. The unit makes use of visual aids through some youtube videos. There are 17 lesson overviews for this unit and examples of what the children could produce are included to give you an idea of expectations and these can also be used to aid shared writing. This is a good unit to do at the start of the year in either year 5 or 6 as it helps the children to focus on the skills of writing in detail, writing shorter sections each day as opposed to writing a full piece over 1 or 2 lessons. Everything needed to teach this unit is included in the pack or is linked to except the Jungle Book story itself, which can be downloaded online or a physical copy purchased.
