Rational Equations (Cross Multiplication) - "Eat the Bonbons" Matching Game

(0)
This is a fun matching game on solving rational equations by cross multiplication. Students have to solve 12 equations as the first six result in linear equations and the rest six result in quadratic equations. There are 4 slides/pages with problems. On each slide/page students are given 3 equations to solve and pictures of four bonbons (candy). Students search for their answers written on the bonbons and if they find their answer written on a bonbon then they “eat the bonbon” striking it through. Then students are asked to match the problems with their solutions. Students can draw identical characters to mark the equation and its solution or they can draw a line/curve to joint the problem and its solution. Student find out that in each slide/page there is one bonbon that “can not be eaten” (the answer written on it is not solution to any of the problems). I hope your students enjoy this activity. Answer keys are included. NOTE: This product is created as a Google Slides product. I have converted it to PDF item here. I have included 2 PDF files - the one has each slide as a page and the other has four slides on a page for easy and more economic printing!

Quadratic Equations with Real Roots - Activities Growing BUNDLE

12 Resources
These are my quadratic equations (with real roots) activities in a bundle. Students will enjoy working in pairs or in small groups making compound words, searching for a password, finding out idioms, matching “searching lucky clovers”, “knocking down” skittles, “bursting balloons” while solving quadratic equations by factoring, completing the square, using the quadratic formula. Answer keys are included.

Solving Quadratic Equations - "Provide and Get Numbers" Partner Activity

(0)
This is a collaborative activity to practice solving complete quadratic equations in standard form by all methods. Students work through sections. In each section, each partner has one equation to solve by a specified method. Equations of the partners in each section are DEPENDENT. The problems are 28 WELL THOUGHT OUT that all have integer coefficients and solutions. Activity Directions: In Section One, Partner A starts solving the equation given and finding its roots while Partner B waits to receive the values of these roots from Partner A. Once the solution set is found Partner A “provides” Partner B with its numbers . Then Partner B places the numbers into the empty squares of his own equation given with two missing coefficients and solves the equation. There is an important instruction - the number which has its absolute value less to be put in place of the first missing coefficient. In Section Two partners repeat the same actions, however this time Partner B starts first. In Section Three, Partner A starts solving first again and it goes still the same way. Recording sheets are included for students to show work . All answer keys are included as well. NOTE: The pages are designed in a way that each partner can solve ten equations or even only six.

Solving Systems of Linear Equations by Substitution - Turkey Themed/Thanksgiving Practice

(0)
This is an engaging thanksgiving themed practice or turkey themed task cards/slides on solving systems of linear equations by substitution. The slides with problems are eight. On each slide there is given one system of linear equations. Students have to solve it and type their answers in boxes provided. Then students are asked to evaluate an expression of type ax+by for the value of the variables x and y that they have already obtained. Thus learners not only practice solving systems by substitution, but they “touch” on the method by which systems of linear equations are created. This product can be used as independent/extra practice, homework assignment. Answer keys are contained at the end of this document. Have a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving Day! NOTE: This product is created as a Google Slides product. I have converted it to PDF item here. I have included 2 PDF files - the one has each slide as a page and the other has two or three slides on a page for easy and more economic printing!

Linear Systems with 3 Variables "What Kind of Penguin is This?" Activity

(0)
This is an engaging and fun penguin themed activity on solving systems of linear equations with three variables. On each slide/page students are given a system to solve, a picture of a penguin and a hint - one sentence that is information about the penguin. Students have to solve the problem and use their answer to find out what kind of penguin is this. They search for their answer in a table where there is a name of a kind of penguin corresponding to each answer. Students can record the number of the problem (that is also the number of the penguin) in the table in the row where is written the answer of the problem. There are 8 slides/pages (8 problems and 8 types of penguins). The problems are 4 pairs of systems that have the same values for the variables x and y and different values for the variable z so students have to be more careful when searching for the answers in the table. The product can be used as independent/class practice, extra practice, partner activity (as example while partner A solves problem 2, partner B will solve problem 3 - partners will get similar answers, the values of x and y will be the same and the difference will be only in the value of the variable z),etc Answer key is contained at the end of this document. NOTE: This product is created as a Google Slides product. I have converted it to PDF item here. I have included 2 PDF files - the one has each slide as a page and the other has three slides on a page for easy and more economic printing!

Systems of Linear Equations (Elimination Method) -Triple Activity

(0)
This is an engaging pirates themed triple activity on solving systems of linear equations by the elimination method. There are three slide/pages with problems. 1 slide/page. Matching Activity In the first slide students have 6 systems to solve by the elimination method and six answer choices. They have to match the problems with their answers typing the letter of the answer next to the number of the problem. 2 slide/page. Systems with the Same Solutions In the second slide students are given another set of six systems. They have to solve them by the elimination method and find which of them have the same solution. Students type their finding on the slide. 3 slide/page. True or False In the third slide students are given two systems with a parameter. They have to determine for which values of the parameter each of the systems have (i) infinite many solutions and (ii) no solution. There are given two statements concerning each of the systems and its solutions. Students have to find whether these statements are true or false. They type “true” or “false” on the slide. This product can be used as independent practice or students can work in pairs to complete this activity. This can be also used as an extra practice and enrichment. The answer keys are contained in the last four slides. NOTE: This product is created as a Google Slides product. I have converted it to PDF item here. I have included 2 PDF files - the one has each slide as a page and the other has three slides on a page for easy and more economic printing!
