Includes a presentation on Membrane Structure & Fluidity and classwork/homework sheet of Cambridge past paper questions on the Fluid Mosaic Model from CIE’s 9700 AS Level Biology Course.
Presentation covers standard 4.1 from the syllabus.
The lesson provides opportunities for students to work in small groups during the whiteboarding activities/discussions. Students are encouraged to think for themselves to determine the factors that affect membrane fluidity. The presentation then walks through the correct answers with them.

Student’s T-test
Correlation Coefficient (Spearman’s Rank)
Information given for each test includes:
The Null hypothesis
The criteria to use the test
The equation
How to calculate the degrees of freedom

For Students studying CIE AS Level Biology 9700. The Multiple Choice Past Paper Cambridge exams up until 2016 (papers 11/12/13) have been sorted by topic along with their answers for revision.
My students like to revise a topic then practice any past paper exam questions related to that topic. It’s easier this way to see the questions that keep coming up and the depth at which CIE take the topic.
2017/2016 past paper exam questions for papers 11/12/13 have purposefully been left out so you/students have 6 papers to practice your/their pacing with. Which is incredibly important for success!
Price? Only 1 pound per file! BARGAIN. All the hard work has been done for you.
Happy Studying.
My Class 6’s and 7’s every year love this lesson and yours will too!
Density is an important concept. For students to truly understand the meaning of density and to compare objects and substances of differing density they must have a strong conceptual understanding. This lesson is aimed at introducing students to the concept of density in a fun way in order to prepare them for future lessons that involve objects that float/sink and calculations.
In this lesson students will have to show a true understanding of the definitions of mass, volume and density in order to correctly answer questions involving particle models. Students will have to critically think in order to draw their own particle models comparing two liquids of differing density.
Students will also have the opportunity to perform two fun labs where they stack liquids of differing density and drop objects of differing density into measuring cylinders. Before they can perform the labs, the students must independently order the liquids and draw particle diagrams to represent the particles in each liquid layer. A fun challenge is set at the end for students to perform at home if they desire.
Lesson plan can be found at the end of the student worksheet.
Presentation can be downloaded in either powerpoint or keynote.

Are you studing the CIE 9700 Biology course? or are you a teacher preparing students for this course? Then this is the ultimate resource for you. Here you will find all of the Past Paper 2 Exam Questions from Cambridge dating back from 2011 to 2016 (winter, summer and march papers) in an excel spreadsheet that you can sort BY TOPIC!. Each question has been categorised based on the syllabus codes so you can sort the sheet depending on which topic from the syllabus you would like to review.
Extremely handy if you are studying for an end of unit examination or revising at the end of the year OR if you are teacher and need to quickly prepare an end of unit examination or a revision resource.
The second tab on the spreadsheet has all the 2017 papers that have been purposefully left out of the sortable sheet on the first tab. This is so students can use these papers to practice their pacing. If students post their score in the correct cell on this page, then the grade they achieved on that paper will appear. This grade is based off of that years particular grade thresholds.
A really useful resource that will save anyone using it a lot of time! My students loved it and I am sure you will too.

Are you taking the NPQLT and about to complete the Summative Assessment? Are you looking for more exemplar answers to the case study to better understand the examiners expectations?
As I received a PASS achieving 16/17 points in February 2023, my responses alongside the feedback I received, should provide valuable insights into the style, structure and language required to achieve a PASS.
If you purchase this resource you will have access to:
My responses to all 5 questions
The 5 domains from the NPQLT Framework each question relates to
A list of keypoints to make in each response
The marking criteria, the examiners feedback and my final result
I am also happy to answer any questions you may have regarding my summative assessment experience
*Please note the case-study itself and associated questions are copyrighted materials therefore they are not included. However, this will not prevent you from seeing what the examiners are looking for and the key points you should be making.
I hope you find this resource useful. Good luck!
