A self contained lesson aimed at introducing key stage 2 primary students to electricity and circuit building. Includes an introductory video and activity, a main circuit building activity and plenary. Encompasses the science skills of predicting, collecting evidence, concluding and evaluating. Students will learn how to build a simple series circuit and test a range of materials for electrical conduction/insulation and also why they conduct/insulate. Ideal as a self contained lesson, online learning or if students do not have access to electrical materials to build circuits. Can also lead on to other circuit building activities and learning how to build different types of circuit.

The topic is energy in food and it contains 2 separate lessons: one for distance learning where no lab equipment is available and another for actual lab experiments. All the key science skills are covered including hypothesis, variables, prediction, data collection and analysis as well as conclusion and evaluation.
