I love resources that ensure all pupils are able to access & feel confident within lessons. It makes me sad when a pupil feels stressed because they don't get it. I love hearing a pupil say "I am on it miss".
All resources for main part of lessons are differentiated to 3 if not 4 levels of progress.
Starters are mixed ability so that I can get pupils to feel confident in areas they struggle on.
Any queries please email me; shacostello@gmail.com

Pupils choose foundation, developing or secure.
Pupils complete starter in their class book. Pupils show full working out and answers.
One starter per lesson, for five lessons. By the time pupils get to starter 5 they should feel like they have made progress with those specific skills that week.
Show answers at the end of each slide and pupils can self or peer assess. Pupils usually in my class use red pen to mark their own work.

Tick or Trash - basic long multiplication questions for those pupils who are struggling or need consolidation task. Instructions on task.
Differentiated long multiplication thoughts and crosses. Can be used as a worksheet or a thoughts and crosses.
Pupils work in pairs. Pupils aim to get a connect four – this can be straight across, diagonal or straight up the sheet. Creates really good discussion around each question. Both pupils complete each question – the person to choose the box wins the box if they get it correct but if they do not get it correct and their partner gets it correct they win the box. First to get connect four - wins.
Pupils can also complete as a differentiated worksheet.
Pupils can choose between red (foundation, fluency), amber ( little bit harder- the application of the skill), green (secure in the topic being taught, starting to solve problems) and blue (exceeding – pupils can work with skill taught in various contexts, reasoning).
Pupils show the questions, working out and answers that they have attempted in their class book.
Once pupils have spent however long you wish for them to work on the task. The solutions are provided so that pupils can see how much progress they have made.

This resource really got pupils using their mathematical oracy and discussing how you find remainders. It ensured pupils to use deep thinking to solve some of these problems.

GCSE 9 - 1 New specification; Mind the gap quiz (non calculator) for foundation!
Mind the gap resource - based on the new 9 - 1 GCSE. Based on EDEXCEL style paper questions, I have produced a mini whiteboard quiz/paper quiz as a starter for lessons to get pupils earning those easy marks throughout the paper. A focus on 1 - 2 mark questions that our pupils are making errors on.
Each quiz has a questions slide and then the answers are provided also. I tend to get pupils to mark their questions at the end of each slide to ensure they can see they are making progress.
I often use at the start of a revision session or during drop down days to get pupils engaged by having a competition board and the winner is the pupil who scores the most points - earning themselves a prize.
I find that pupils need repetition - perfect practice, makes perfect. So I have produced 5 mind the gaps, same skills addressed in each one with different figures. This builds confidence with my pupils as they can see the progress they have made from the start of the week to the end of the week.
Based around paper 1; foundation skills - non calculator.

I really appreciate reviews and feedback, I aim to develop constantly and love to ensure my resources are up to date and differentiated to all ability levels but like we are with our pupils and classes, please do try to be constructive!

Differentiated resources.
Starts off on foundation (Red) - expanding basic expressions - but moving on in difficulty even in the red section. Fluency questions.
Developing (Amber) - expanding expressions when two terms in and introducing more negatives. More complex fluency questions.
Secure (Green) - Expand and simplify moving on in terms of how many negatives are introduced.
Exceeding (Blue) - problem solving and developing thinking - constructing expressions and expanding them with written problems and shape. Pupils demonstrate they are confident with expand and simplify.
Answers included.
Great resources to keep pupils engaged, can be used as a PPT presentation, Worksheet or I like to use as a thoughts and crosses - pupils play rally coach talk each other through how they got the correct answers and coach the other person if they wrong. First person to get connect four wins points on the system.
RAG catchphrase, Red easy going to purple which is hardest. Something to engage pupils and get them answering as many questions as possible while challenging themselves. Pupils complete as many questions as possible moving them from easy (the red task) to amber (little harder) and then green. My class really enjoyed guessing the catch phrase after the task was complete. Works a treat to get more challenging classes engaged.

Laws of indices task moving from easy to new style problems. Pupils have to work backwards on problems particularly on the green activity.
Used in both KS3 and KS4.
I wanted to see if pupils really understood collecting like terms and forming expressions. Activity based around using as a worksheet or MWB task so that you can clearly see the answers of all pupils. Really effective and pupils understand task perfectly.
Has been used with Ks3 and Ks4 classes.
Aimed at KS2/KS3. Hands on resources to get pupils understanding units of measurement and discussing fractions or multiplication tables. Has been used for open evening task also.
Mini whiteboard task used as a pre assessment to see where pupils misconceptions are.
I wanted pupils to solve problems from the onset on volume of a cylinder so we did 3 MWB problems on 'normal' find the volume of a cylinder then I gave them this to do. Red is the easy one and they work down the page in pairs to aim to get to green in each section. Hope it is useful.
Area of trapezium moving from basic to problem solving and then moving to volume of trapezium. Kids are in pairs and play against each other to get connect four. I make all learners write their full workings into their books. Learners enjoy the activity and it is great for discussion of where they got their answer from.
Learners play in pairs to try connect four in a row. Take it in turns when pupil x chooses a question both pupils do it in their book. Pupil x puts his name on that square then pupil y chooses a sum. We use all types of colourful post it notes and then display around the room. Occasionally we complete in pairs as a poster.
Learners play in pairs. Learners choose who goes first. Learners both answer the question. If learner 1 picks and gets it right they win. If they get it wrong and learner 2 is able to explain their answer then learner 2 wins the square. First person to connect four wins. This is a good way of promoting independence among learners and getting them to explain how they have got to their answer. Moves from basic prisms to compound prisms.
Learners work on the questions from the middle column in their book. Once they have the answer they tick the correct answer and trash the wrong answer. Then learners state who is better at simultaneous equations. Sometimes I add in two of the wrong answers in the same question to test learners are completing them correctly while also checking their understanding.
Learners work the questions out from the middle column. Learners complete working out in their book. The tick the answer they have right and trash the answer they have wrong. Learners then state who is better at solving equations. Learners do enjoy this and especially when its famous people they like.
Worksheet which allows learners to progress quickly. Moves from red after four questions correct but if struggling stays on red. I have given the answers out on the back on the sheet in some instances with classes that can be trusted worked a treat.
