I am an experienced teacher and currently Head of English and Media in a large secondary school. I am also an examiner for EDUQAS English Language GCSE. I have a range of resources available on TES. Some of my resources are quite old, from when I first started out, and I am currently working in my spare time to update my resources. There are a range of resources from displays, schemes of work, revision booklets, mock exam papers and lessons available.

A powerpoint, including useful revision cards reminding students how to answer each question of Component 1, alongside a 'practice the skills' lesson for each question using extracts from James and the Giant Peach, as well as a lesson on Component 2, using Bill Bryson and Rudyard Kipling for the 20th and 19th century non fiction respectively. In addition to the powerpoint there is an entire component 2 exam style paper that can be completed, that runs alongside the powerpoint. Very useful in helping the students understand the exam expectations.

A complete lesson (or 2 depending on group) analyzing an extract of A Christmas Carol and focusing on The Cratchit family. This lesson will encourage students to closely analyse texts and identify language, as well as authors intention and presentation of main characters. A great revision tool as well as a useful assessment for classes. Suitable for all KS4 classes. This sheet was used with a low ability set, but questions are easily altered.

A planned lesson allowing students to research Victorian History and the invention of Christmas Cards. Students are able to identify, label and apply presentational features whilst learning more contextual information about Victorian life. This lesson has all learning objectives, success criteria and resources available in one PowerPoint, as well as 'real life' links. Any students studying Charles Dickens or other Victorian Authors could use this lesson as a Christmas lesson whilst ensuring students are engaging in contextual resource.

A complete lesson for GCSE students studying Willy Russell's Blood Brothers looking at the characters of Mickey and Edward. The lesson begins with a quick task on connectives to ensure students utilise them in their writing. A stretch and challenge lesson looking at the basics of feminist criticism and how to apply it to the study of the Eduqas Anthology. All resources, learning objectives, success criteria are included . This lesson talks through what literary criticism is and the poem in secure detail, ensuring students understand the question. Students are given opportunities to expand understanding and knowledge and create more sophisticated analysis of the poem to reach the top grades. There are lots of discussion based tasks to apply the criticism they have been taught, looking at examples of art as well as poetry. Students are then given an exam style question and expected to answer it using literary criticism. This can be used as a complete lesson, but it can equally be used as a revision aide for students either in or outside of the classroom.
