A fantastic murder mystery to help your investigators practice solving and writing linear inequalities.
Students are given a scenario in which they will help investigators solve a murder.
Four clues have been left behind to help them figure out the perp.
Knowledge of solving equations, solving inequalities and writing and solving inequalities from word problems is necessary to catch the criminal
This is a great activity for classwork, assessment, homework or stations. It is very flexible!

Linear Modeling Projects Bundle
This scavenger hunt has students convert between mixed numbers and improper fractions. During the scavenger hunt, students start at any poster and convert the question to the other form. Students then look around the room for their answer. Once they've found the answer they solve the question on that poster. If done correctly, they will end up back at the same poster.
This is a great review or practice activity for students. It is self-checking so students can get immediate feedback about their performance, which they love!

This class project is sure to be a hit with any and all of your students! This bundle includes 3 projects in one. All the projects relate around the same idea. Students have been hired as consultants for the Baltimore Ravens, Real Madrid or Monsters University to solve some problems. Students must use the provided data to create a linear regression (line of best fit, least squares equation) in order to determine a correlation coefficient. Afterwards, students identify residuals for each piece of data. After collecting all the necessary information, students are led through questions related to the organization. When I did this in class I gave all three projects and let them choose. The choices were mixed and the students loved that they were able to individualize the days lesson depending on their interests. After students were finished each group received a reporting form. This is the form the "consultants" would hand their employer to summarize their findings. This was absolutely a hit in our class! If you don't want all three I will put each project up individually.

Algebra 2 Activity Bundle
This scavenger hunt has students practicing adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. All answers are in fraction form. Students can start at whatever poster they want and work around to find the next answer. The whole activity is one giant loop, therefore, they will end up back where they started. Our scavenger hunts are a great way to get students practicing and self-checking. Students get the automatic feedback they need by either finding their answer was correct or not finding their answer on a poster and thus knowing they need to resolve.
Eight stations requiring students to analyze data and determine if an exponential or quadratic regression is most appropriate. At each station, students will be required to graph the scatter plot. Determine the r-squared value and answer 3-4 questions. This is great practice with regressions.
This is a straightforward activity involving a problem situation and a pool. Students are given information about the specification about a pool and must come up with the piecewise function, create a table, and graph the information. This is a great way to represent the information in multiple modes and demonstrate a real world example of the importance of piecewise functions. This assignment could be done as a class for instruction or indpendently as a grade or practice. We have completed this lesson in our own classes with great success!
We've made a trigonometry version of our beloved relay race! In the trigonometry relay race, students are required to use knowledge of:
- sine, cosine, tangent
- inverse to determine angles
- converting degrees to radians and radians to degrees
- the unit circle
- finding unknown sides using trig functions
- exact values of common angles
- relationships between sine, cosine and tangent
Now with an answer key and equation bank!
Our students always love the relay race and is our favorite review for students.
$56 worth of materials!!
We will be updating this bundle every time we put up an Algebra 1 activity!
This bundle will cover activities that will compliment a good amount of your Algebra 1 year.
Including:
Quadratic Function
Regressions
Absolute Value Functions
Function Characteristics
X and Y Intercepts
Polynomials
Box and Whiskers
Tons of exponential work!
This document is an assortment of questions related to exponential functions. Questions include exponential growth and exponential decay. This is a group of review questions and will challenge students new to the concept. I suggest using this as a review for Algebra 2 students or Algebra 1 extension.
This activity is all about matching a data set to its 5 number summary and box-and-whiskers plot. Students are given 7 sets of data and have to find the 5 number summary and plot that match it. Matching is a great way to have students analyze a bunch of data at one time and look for similarities and differences. Our students love all matching activities we do and as teachers we feel they get a great deal out of doing them!
A murder mystery that requires students to use their knowledge of basic trigonometric functions to find the killer!
Students will be led through 5 puzzles to find clues leading to the killer. Puzzles require students to use knowledge of finding unknown sides and angles using sine, cosine and tangent, solving word problems, converting radians to degrees and unit circles. After solving the 5 clues, only one suspect will be left.
Need to change a puzzle for your specific class! It's easy to change any of the puzzles as long as the clue matches up!
Answer key included!
A murder mystery to help your math detectives solve a crime for the NYC Police. Students will go through a series of puzzles to determine the perpetrator.
This 4 clue murder mystery requires students to use knowledge of determining slope, identifying x and y-intercepts, graphing linear functions and using linear functions to solve word problems,
Our students love this activity as a review or test prep. Assign to a group or individual.
Answer key included.
A set of 20 task cards focusing on all aspects of linear regressions. To complete the task cards students will use knowledge of linear regressions (line of best fit, least squares regression), correlation coefficients, and calculating residuals and their meaning. The bundle also includes an answer sheet for students to record their work.
This is a great review of skills for a test, quiz or standardized assessment.

This activity is to reinforce knowledge of vertical and horizontal transformations of quadratic functions. Students are required to match an equation, graph and point notation. This is a great activity to do before a test, after instruction or for homework as reinforcement of skills for a tough concept!
This 9 poster scavenger hunt requires students to analyze information related to the graphs of absolute value functions.
Students are required to use knowledge of vertex, absolute minimum/maximum, intervals of increase/decrease, domain and range.
Students are given a sheet with 9 questions. Each question has characteristics of a quadratic function graph. Students will search the posters to find the graph that matches all the characteristics on their paper. Students will then write the poster letter on their paper.
This activity has students working with equations with variables on both sides. This is a station activity where students rotate around to each area. Each station asks them to solve different types of equations where the variables are on both sides. This is a great activity to practice solving equations and get your students up and moving around the room to stimulate their brain. This download includes the station documents, note sheet and answer sheet. We have both used this lesson in our classes and the students did an amazing job!
This review is for exponential functions. Just like everyone else our new common core curriculum has changed things around. This review takes exponents a step further than the other one we've posted. The review includes multiplying exponents, dividing exponents, power of zero negative exponents, translations, rational and radical form and reflections of exponential functions. . A power point slide with directions on how to play the relay race game is attached. These directions are very common but you can play in whatever way you'd like. Also attached are questions to cut out and an answer sheet for each student.
This class project is sure to be a hit with any and all of your students! Students have been hired as consultants for Monsters University to solve some team problems. Students must use the provided data to create a linear regression (line of best fit, least squares equation) in order to determine a correlation coefficient. Afterwards, students identify residuals for each piece of data. After collecting all the necessary information, students are led through questions related to the organization. When I did this in class I gave all three (3 similar projects all found on our page) and let them choose. The choices were mixed and the students loved that they were able to individualize the days lesson depending on their interests. After students were finished each group received a reporting form. This is the form the "consultants" would hand their employer to summarize their findings. This was absolutely a hit in our class! We have actually created three similar scenarios to cover the same information. If you want all three projects I have bundled each for just 5.99!
This great activity is a self-checking loop of problems. This set is all to do with finding specific of cosine and sine of a given angle . Students choose to start with any question they'd like, determine the answer, and look for it around the room. Once they find the answer, they complete the question on that specific page. The questions are in a big loop so when the student returns back to their original page, they are finished. This is a fantastic way to have a self-checking review. Students know immediately if they did something wrong with their calculations. It also allows students to spread out and work at their own pace.
Note: The answers specifically leave out the angles as to not give students the answers as they move around from problem to problem.
