I am a music specialist and the music I write is original, tested on children and for the less confident teacher. My aim is to provide you with everything you need to fulfil Topic requirements and those of the National Curriculum (without having to prepare anything.) I provide Power Points/videos and give you mp3s and lyrics. Notation is sometimes given. The instrumental parts are dead easy!

Playing the maracas

(6)
Most primary classrooms have a few maracas in the store room.Be amazed at the different sounds a maraca can make! This resource contains a song, and 2 videos. One video shows how a maraca can be played. The second shows a maestro playing the maracas. Children are encouraged to explore the sounds a maraca can make. They are asked to make a simple presentation with their maraca and join in with a Spanish song. This lesson can be adapted for a current topic. The videos are included in the PPT. The YouTube links are for acknowledgement.

There is a very simple part for the claves (or any untuned instruments) and for differentiation a simple part for chime bars with the notes written underneath the music. Musically you can extend this as far as you feel comfortable or just sing and clap in the instrumental Resources include PPT (should you wish to edit) Music sheet Video 2 mp3s vocals and backing
