Good revision points game for the Additional Edexcel C2 course (both higher and lower)
- I have used it for revision lessons and as homework
- I have completed it as a treasure hut lesson - where they have to find atomic structure points or bonding points, practical points. Winning is based on three categories ... fastest, highest points to 50, best work!!! The kids loved it
There is a combination of practical based questions (practical points), bonus questions (bonus points) and higher tier questions (bold). All the treasure hunt slides can be adapted and created to other specifications including the NEW EDEXCEL specification. I have an additional treasure hunt/ points game available for the new EDEXCEL GCSE based on the content required the end of year exam
TOPIC 1: Atomic structure and the periodic table
TOPIC 2: Ionic compounds and Analysis
TOPIC 3: Covalent compounds and separation techniques
TOPIC 4: Groups and the periodic table
TOPIC 5: Chemical reactions
TOPIC 6: Quantitative chemistry
The resource is expensive due to the amount of work put in to this top quality resource and because of this the revision slides can even be printed out and used in the classroom as revision MATS. There are 23 slides of questions for all abilities (foundation and higher) covering the whole specification for this C2 exam. These are a really good revision resource and last a lifetime once laminated.

Edexcel 9-1 CC6a Covalent Compounds
TOPIC 1 KEY CONCEPTS OF CHEMISTRY PAPER 1 and PAPER 2- NEW for SEPTEMBER 2017
This lesson was for my bottom set year 9's - they just could not understand covalent bonding therefore I took it to the next level.
I ordered 12 hula hoops (outer shells) and 48 airflow balls (electrons)
I dismantled the hula hoops so they could be taken apart and then put back together and the airflow balls could be added to the outer shells.
This is a step - by - step guided lesson.
IF hula hoops and airflow balls are not available this can be carried out on WHITEBOARDS so it can be used by everyone.

TOPIC 8 Fuels and Earth science PAPER 2- NEW for SEPTEMBER 2017
CC16b Fractional distillation of crude oil
L2 Fractional distillation
or lower ability
L2 and L3 Fractional distillation
For the lesson:
You will need to laminate the fractional distillation sheet, the cards to go with the sheet and you will also require some string (not provided). Instructions are contained at the bottom of each slide.
This lesson allows students to generate an A3 sheet for the properties (viscosity, boiling point, ignition and chain length) and the uses for each fraction.
Students will then require to complete and A4 sheet containing all of the information.
I have done this in 2's so students can complete the A3 sheet themselves OR if limited printing allowed I have made stations around the room for each property and allowed students to complete a market place activity to fill in the student sheet. Either works fine and also depends on ability
LESSON
To understand how crude oil is separated into useful fractions
To be able to explain the differences between each fraction
To explain a use for each fraction

Answers all underneath each slide
Support also available where necessary

AQA AS-level Chemistry 2015 specification for printing on dividers to give to students (CHECKLISTS)
AS specification
I printed the specification onto dividers and then handed them out to students - they can mark off when the content has been taught.
Students really liked the checklist - especially for when they are ill, absent, revision and in particular to separate out work when taught it in class.
I used different coloured card (dividers) to print it onto to help students identify different parts of the course.
All hand typed and required practicals are highlighted for easy viewing
