Working in pairs or small groups of 4, students can be given 40 minutes to fill out the pollution indicator table pulling out information from case studies. Students will discuss and making note of the type of pollution that affect different species and how such organisms is used as a pollution indicator. Students will be given a time limit of 10 minutes per case study. 4 case studies will be provided. Least able students will complete 2 case studies where as more able students will complete 4. The case studies task will demonstrate that students are able to identify the role of indicator species and explain why it is important for people to assess pollution levels.
