1. A PowerPoint presentation designed for use with WJEC GCSE Health and Social Care course. This lesson introduces the concepts of growth and development. It looks at what causes growth and introduces PIES.

Child Development - social development in infancy
A set of resources on the development of social skills. The worksheet is based on the Pamela Minett Child Care and Development text book and pupils will need this to complete it. Also included are a brief PowerPoint presentation with lesson objectives, starter and plenary activities, and a set of social development cards. I get pupils to cut these out and make poster explaining why each kill is important and how parents and carers can support the development of the skill. Usually takes between one and two lessons

WJEC Hospitalty and Catering; 1.1.1 Residential facilities
Unit 1: 1.1.1 Hospitality and catering providers
The resource includes a PowerPoint presentation, with starter and plenary activities, a video and two worksheets (one of which is incorporated into the PowerPoint and will need to be printed).
The resource covers residential service (specifically hotels):
• rooms: single, double, king, family, suite (en-suite bath/shower room,
shared facilities)
• refreshments: breakfast, lunch, evening meal, 24-hour room
service/restaurant available
• conference and function facilities
• leisure facilities (spa, gym, swimming pool).
It will take between 1-2 lessons depending on the ability of pupils.

Resource includes a PowerPoint presentation looking at factors to consider when planning the layout for front of house design of a restaurant or hotel. Pupils then design their own layout, and peer assess. Templates provided.

Learning objectives:

To know and understand how awareness of competition from other providers affects hospitality and catering provision.
To know and understand how environmental concerns, and seasonality impact hospitality and catering provision.
Resource includes PowerPoint presentation with starter and plenary activities. The slides cover trends in the hospitality an catering industry, and seasonality.
There is an activity for pupils to design a menu (will require the internet to research seasonal ingredients and to look at an existing menu).
There is also an information shet and questions based on social media influence.
WJEC Hospitality and Catering level 1/2. AC1.1 The Kitchen Brigade
The PowerPoint contains starter activity, lesson objectives and plenary. There is also a set of activities; a match task where pupils match the kitchen brigade member in English, French and job description; an activity where pupils need to work out which members of the kitchen brigade helped in the preparation of certain dishes; a quiz to test knowledge.

Maslow's pyramid of Human Needs
A set of resource covering a whole lesson. Includes:
1. PowerPoint presentation explaining the pyramid, with starter and plenary activities
2. Maslow's need statements - activity using a printed copy of the pyramid from the PowerPoint. Pupils are to match the statements to the correct layer.
