A lesson to help pupils understanding the difference Mandatory, Essential and Discretionary Expenditure. From this a task to look a persons budget and suggest how to allow them to achieve financial goals is there for pupils to review. I have plenty more finance resources that are available in my shop. This lesson uses the bar method to problem solve ratio and geometry problems. This helps to develop reasoning and fluency, while also challenging pupils to use a range of their mathematical knowledge. I also have a lesson that looks at finding ratio of amounts which can be found in my shop.

Can be used in KS3/4 and has definitely helped students to understand the concept. Fully planned lesson with regular recall at the start (which can be adapted)
