BEST GUESS AQA LITERATURE PAPER 2 MOCK

(0)
This is my version of the best guess mock for AQA English Literature Paper 2 2018. There is an ‘An Inspector Calls’ question (choice of two) which has been ‘guessed’ by looking at what has come up previously and through legacy spec along with a best guess question (two again as I couldn’t decide!) for the Power and Conflict cluster of poems. There is also an unseen poetry question also attached which uses ‘The Mower’ by Philip Larkin.

This package of resources includes four practice questions for the singular unseen poem task in section C of English Literature for AQA GCSE. The poems included are ‘In The Orchard After Midnight’, ‘Your Dad Did What?’, ‘In Oak Terrace’ and ‘Names’. The sheets include the poem, question, boxes for planning to write about language, form and structural ideas, have a space for a SOP (Statement of Purpose - which is a response to the poem where pupils outline their initial thoughts in response to the question. There is also an image of the level 6 mark scheme criteria from AQA. I have included both word documents and PDF copies so that should you want to use the template to produce more, you can. The comparative poem practice is on ‘The Pros and Cons’ by Sophie Hannah and ‘The Trick’ by Imtiaz Dharker.

An eight page document which includes 4 practice questions and copies of the poems alongside planning grids which ask students to add their SOP (statement in relation to the question), and space to plan ‘Big Picture Idea’ responses to the questions with space to add quotations which exemplify the points. This was designed to be printed as two-to-a-page sheets so that the poem sits alongside the question. Questions offer preparation for ‘Poppies’, ‘Exposure’, ‘London’ and ‘The Emigree’. I have included both a word document and a PDF, which is fully formatted, should you wish to adapt and amend in an editable version.

Easter revision booklet - AQA Literature - 3 texts

This is a short revision booklet that I created for my year 11 set 9 (it could be used with higher ability pupils too) which takes them through basic revision for ‘An Inspector Calls’, ‘Macbeth’ and ‘A Christmas Carol’. I intend to walk the pupils through this resource and go through the activities and ideas with them in our Easter revision session although it may be useful for independent revision preparation as we enter the final stages of revision. I teach the AQA English Literature specification and have used the specimen 3 question for ‘AIC’ in this pack. Hopefully it may be useful to you and your students!

Narrative Interest - linguistic and stuctural analysis. Perfect for AQA GCSE Language Paper 1.

Planned this lesson for use with my GCSE group to look at linguistic and structural features in preparation for AQA GCSE English Language paper 1 questions 2 and 3. The extracts to use are from the openings of 'Room' by Emma Donoghue, 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold and 'Notes on a Scandal' by Zoe Heller. Differentiated and allows pupils to work for a more extended period of time on their responses. Used for an observation.

This is a fully resourced lesson to allow you to deliver an interesting and engaging lesson on Tennyson's 'Charge of the Light Brigade' to students from year 9-11. Featured on the new AQA GCSE poetry cluster for power and conflict, this would provide an ideal starting point. The resources include a powerpoint, a working sheet and support sheets as the lesson is designed as a carousel where pupils move around accessing questions on all of the stanzas before completing a peer assessment.

This is a detailed SOW which includes all powerpoints, worksheets, assessments and example responses to take pupils through the study of Priestley's 'An Inspector Calls'. Written this year to be taught to year 10 GCSE classes, the scheme includes assessment points, a mock style question, mini tests alongside going through the main themes, characters and ideas of the play. If this scheme is followed, pupils should have a good grounding and understanding of the play and its contextual background. Designed originally for use with the new AQA GCSE course (9-1), but could be used for other exam boards. There are 22 resources included in this bundle. They are labelled L1 and so forth identifying which resources go with which lessons.

All used with my third and seventh set year 11 students for the new AQA 9-1 English Literature GCSE and all understood it and used to their varying levels of ability.
