This has two writing opportunities a non chronological report, based on a Basilisk, and a third person narrative re-telling the Chamber of Secrets basilisk fight scene. This was for a Y6 group but can be adapted to any KS2 year group. Created for a school that writes nearly every day and have 1 hour 15 minute English lessons, as a result each lesson seems full. This pack contains 25 quick reading activities based mainly on the skill of retrieval. Each worksheet contains a small sample of text and 5 questions plus an extension. The questions are loosely based on 1 mark Y6 SATs questions and the extensions tend to be 2 mark questions requiring either evidence or a longer answer. I created this for a low Year 6 Reading Group who were working below age related expectations and this really helped them. Based on a range of fiction texts. Can be completed as a whole group activity or as an independent task and should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete each one.
