Creative thinking and character assessment of Robin Hood worksheet. User is required to complete speech for Robin Hood and Prince John. Ideal if studying Robin Hood or different perspectives. Can be used as Robin Hood activity or Robin Hood homework.
This is an Aesop's fables writing and creative thinking exercise in which students are encouraged to think about animal characteristics in fables. Ideally used if students are studying Aesop's fables.
I created this resource when I realised that several of my students struggled to infer when reading.
This is an independent activity in my Guided Reading carousel. Some minor input from me on the difference between comprehending and inferring was all the children needed before getting started. I encourage the students to find more ‘infer’ answers than ‘comprehended’ answers.
What I love about this activity is that it has allowed my students to develop their inferential skills when reading worded texts, as well as analysing pictures. The absence of words means it is ideal for numerous reading abilities.
This reading inferential resource contains 25 activities.
This is great as part of a Guided Reading session or carousel of activities, it could also be used as a lesson starter, morning activity or library session activity.
Ideal for students who are studying Aesop's fables or animals in fables (The Dog and the Bone, The Ant and the Grasshopper, the Hare and the Tortoise). Students are encouraged to think about animals' characteristics in stories, legends and fables and develop critical thinking skills by applying their own understanding and ideas.
Looking for activities to compliment your Earth Day celebrations.

Files are editable so you can create your own writing frames.
Students respond to the famous Dog and the Bone fable by writing a character sketch. Contains extension challenge for the higher ability students.

Peer review is an excellent end of lesson plenary activity for writing lessons.
In my class I have these posters doubled-sided-printed and laminated and readily available around the room as well as featuring on my English display board.
The first two students to have adequately finished their work then peer review each others' by offering a compliment, suggestion and correction. Having completed the activity a couple of times the students really understand what makes constructive feedback (the guidance also helps with this).
A great writing plenary.
