This is a 6 week long scheme of work to deliver the content for GCSE English Language Paper 2 (20th and 21st century nonfiction). Included are lessons which break down how to answer each question, model answers (including examples from real candidates during the GCSE exam series) and mock exams. This unit has been designed for the Edexcel specification, though can be easily adapted to suit other exam boards.

A full marks model essay answering the question ‘Explore the significance of the theme of education in Animal Farm’. Written to support the teaching of the new Edexcel 9-1 Literature specification. Suggested activities: - Print off the mark scheme and get students to mark the essay - Get students to colour-code where the essay meets the different assessment objectives - Use the essay to create a list of spellings/keywords since 8 marks are available for SPaG - Use the essay as a model when asking students to answer a different question - Get students to identify where contextual comments are linked into the analysis
