Edexcel large covalent compounds practical Gd1-5

(0)
Straightforward practical where you can use “waxy” acids available in many school labs e.g steric acid to find out there melting points and compare them to their carbon chain length. In this practical I use lauric, steric ans palmitic acid tn this practical, You must carry out your OWN risk assessment before using with pupils. “Active learn” sheet cc7a sheet is handy for this but not essential
Edexcel metallic bonding foundation version

Edexcel - covalent bonding intro Gd 5-9

(0)
Introduction to covalent bonding suitable for the higher end students, includes a starter question linked to ions. Using teh periodic tableto predict whether a formula will be covalent. Covalent dot and cross practice questions. Success criteria… State what a covalent bond is and how many electrons it contains. Independently draw a covalent bond for hydrogen and a group 7 molecule Being able to draw a covalent compound using a 2 different elements combined for example H2O/ CO2
