A SOW delivered to HA year 8 (though has been taught previously to mixed ability) studying the novel Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman. Students are preparing for a transactional writing assessment so there is plenty of non-fiction context too.
Two lessons introducing students to AQA Language Paper 1 Q1 and 2 using extracts Life of Pi and Brick Lane. Vocabulary retrieval starters and I do, we do, you do analysis. Models and annotation included for teacher reference. Mark scheme included.

A series of revision lessons for AQA English Langauge Question 5 and A Christmas Carol (combined using recall and key extracts). Originally designed for a LA class but can be scaled up for higher abilities.
4 lessons introducing different aspects of evaluation to help students answer question 4 in AQA Language Paper 1. Extracts taken from Coming to England, Dunkirk, The Garden Party and Jurassic Park. Models and differentiation included. Mark scheme included.
This was taught simultaneously to a top set year 9 and a middle set year 8 so very adaptable. Fully resourced with models and scaffolds where needed. The aim of the unit was to produce a piece of creative writing, but plenty of reading tasks in there too.
Two lessons: using an extract from Rebecca, students practice their Language Paper 1 Section A (AQA) skills and then respond to feedback. High level models are provided along with mark schemes.
