This is a lesson menu that I have designed initially for low ability pupils (levels 3 to 5) but then extended to higher ability (levels 3 to 6). It complements LOs. It can be easily modified for all lessons.

This is an information sheet providing information on the bacteria involved in the nitrogen cycle. See my other resources for an exam tips handout that students can use as guidance.

Templates are provided that can be readily modified. One template is a GCSE revision template where students are guided to create their own exam questions and peer edit answers. The second template is useful for writing Blooms-leveled answers at Key Stage 3 and includes a wordbank. The third is an AS Chemistry exam question with keyword glossary. All templates include written instructions for students. Peer editing is great when combined with AFL strategies before and after the activity.

I came across the idea for lesson menus from a CPD session that I attended and have since put them into over half of my total lessons. I am putting together a series of resources to help more able students in the classroom and I will be adding to this series over the coming year. This is a levelled checklist for graph skills that year 7 and 8 students should be able to do. I use this the second time that I teach year 7 graph skills. It helps promote inclusion. Higher ability pupils should be able to complete all of the checklist to a very high level of ability. Feedback to my TES inbox please.

This is a visually engaging and fun method for students to self assess their progress at the end of a class. If more than 1 web is used students could assess their progress at the start, during and end of a task as part of assessment for learning. Slides are printed as 6 slide handouts. This is a version of my teaching menu that I have modified for teaching assistants. It is most beneficial for independent learning and science practical lessons. The TA helps lower ability pupils earlier in lesson and higher ability pupils later in the lesson.

Why did the Neanderthals die out? This is a comprehension task based on a newspaper article. I encourage students to use highlights to highlight short phrases and keywords - developing good exam technique.

This is an adapted learning objectives slide that I created for a class as a printed homework slide (6 slides per page) on organ transplants. It is levelled in a similar though more concise way to Badger level assessed tasks. Feedback to rowan.savage@hotmail.com.

This is a resource that I created for my year 10 students to think critique their performance on each question of an end of topic test. This can be easily adapted to all types of test for KS4 and KS5 A level. The page setup is A4 so page 2 of the presentation can be printed and stuck into student books.
