This is a 3-week cycle based on learning from the book Fox by Magaret Wild. Children will Gather information about forest fires and build their Grammar work into this. In week 3 children are encouraged to write a prequel to the story which sees Dog and Bird find each other.
Two reading units which focus on a fiction and non-fiction. Each unit focuses on vocabulary, making connections, finding antonyms and synonyms and a range of questions. All questions are on the slides ready to use or copy on to a work sheet for books.
This is a 2 week cycle that leads up to a child’s independent write of a setting description of Narnia. Week 1 consists of a WAGOLL, a comparison of setting descriptions where children can form their own style that they want to emulate, speaking and listening opportunities as well as links to visual literacy. Each lesson has a quick SPaG or spelling activity as we near to SATs to continue our practice.
Week 2 reviews speech and how it is punctuated, relative clauses, figurative language, adverbials and layered planning.
All resources come with the download and the ppt has notes to help with the understanding of the lesson.
2 week build up to an independent write where chn will learn the skills of how to write 2 characters meeting in a fantasy narrative. Building tension using vocabulary knowledge and then including additional grammar skills prepare chn to be able to write their own versions.
