AS Vocal Set Works quiz

AS Vocal Set Works quiz

(0)
A quiz covering the set works by Weelkes, Haydn, Stravinsky, Perkins and Beatles plus some key terms. This is not fully complete as there is an audio section (finding the videos on Youtube) as well as a visual music extract section; I planned to add in a few random bars (in sequence) of a part of each set work for pupils to recognise. This can be easily edited, added to etc. Any feedback would be great, thanks!

An A4 sheet of key features of styles of music - cut the sheet up and have pupils put them together. Can be used either as a starter or as a revision part of a lesson. You can edit/add/delete features to tailor it to your class.

An open task for KS3 - Year 7 task or Year 9 revision. Feel free to cater it to the needs of your class, there are lots of other key terms that can be added and lots of other tasks that can branch off from this.
Indian Music documents

Indian Music documents

(3)
A mix of Indian Music activities - the instrument pictures can be used as a puzzle, cut them up and students stick back together. Students can work out instrument by descriptor and the final document is useful to differentiate between elements of each performance such as instruments/rag used. Any feedback would be gratefully received!
Vocal Music Set Works Features

Vocal Music Set Works Features

(0)
Useful for putting landmarks on the vocal set works (Weelkes, Handel, Stravinsky, Beatles and Carl Perkins). Examples include: Cadential 6-4s, first theme appearing, E major chord etc. Pupils can cut these out and stick them on a magnified and/or photocopied score to highlight areas of theoretical interest. Lots more terms that can be added. Please leave a comment if you have any thoughts on this, thanks!
Moby timeline of events

Moby timeline of events

Similar to a Lord Of The Rings resource I've uploaded - a map of what happens in Moby's song; laid out in Cubase fashion (numbers on the top are the bars per box) pupils colour in/mark in which instruments are playing in which section (see second page of Word document). It is in the GCSE revision guide but is useful as a starting task on Moby. Any feedback you have would be helpful, thank you!
Elements of Music: Mix&Match

Elements of Music: Mix&Match

(2)
A quick starter or matching the descriptions to the key terms - melody, harmony, texture, etc. Can be edited for extra words, examples of each element or even, depending upon your class(!), a demonstration of an element. Any feedback would be great, thanks!
Music Intervals flowchart

Music Intervals flowchart

A bit of a work in progress as it still looks complicated! The aim is to create a step-by-step guide for students studying Music Theory to work out whether an interval is diminished/minor/major/augmented. Still a work in progress but any advice on how to make it look easier would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Instrument Heroes or Villains in Film Music

Instrument Heroes or Villains in Film Music

(0)
A worksheet of associating certain instruments with heroes or villains. It doesn't contain any links to tracks but you can use certain film and TV theme tunes to use for associations. For example, Double Bass - Jaws - Villain. Trumpet - Indiana Jones - Hero. Any feedback would be great, thanks!
GCSE Music Glossary - terms and definitions
s_mcsweeneys_mcsweeney

GCSE Music Glossary - terms and definitions

(2)
Useful to have an electronic version of the glossary - handy to use to cut out, have pupils work in groups to work out which words they recognise/can match up with other definitions or can be used to associate key terms with Areas of Study pieces. It saves someone else typing it up, hopefully!
Blues, Reggae or Acoustic?
s_mcsweeneys_mcsweeney

Blues, Reggae or Acoustic?

(0)
Used as a plenary for a short performing styles unit based on Blues, Reggae and Acoustic music. Students work out the style of music from the description, for example, this music originated from the Carribean - Reggae. Can be used to tack on other styles of music to edit it into a bigger scale activity for KS4. Any feedback would be great, thanks!
Building Chords
s_mcsweeneys_mcsweeney

Building Chords

(1)
Useful for a starter from a previous lesson for chords - multiple choice of: what letters make a C chord, for example, what is a major/minor chord, what do they sound like ('happy' or 'sad' - feel free to use better descriptions!) leading into the chords they'll need for today's lesson for a class band song, which is only one chord away from an Axis of Awesome 4 chord song! Any feedback would be great, thanks! The song on the final slide is Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars.
Blues Higher or Lower
s_mcsweeneys_mcsweeney

Blues Higher or Lower

(2)
Useful for a quick plenary or even as a starter to get pupils thinking about numbers relating to Blues music but they have to work out if the next answer is higher or lower than the previous. For example, Q1. How many chords in standard Blues chord patterns? 3. Q2. Blues started in which century? (higher or lower than 3 - previous answer) etc. Any feedback would be great, thanks!
Lord Of The Rings Theme Music Checkpoints
s_mcsweeneys_mcsweeney

Lord Of The Rings Theme Music Checkpoints

(5)
The worksheet is a series of musical checkpoints - pupils put them in the order of what's happening in the music (see added Youtube link). First page of the Word document is the right order and the second page is the handout to groups/individuals. Can be edited to be used with other soundtracks or even orchestral or vocal pieces. Any feedback would be great, thanks!

Includes question and answer sheets Any feedback would be great, thanks!

s_mcsweeneys_mcsweeney

(1)
A series of weird and wacky composer facts that may be useful as a starter with Year 7s or 8s on the history of music. Examples include Beethoven's pre-composing ritual, Tchaikovsky's fear when performing and Debussy's obsession. Any feedback would be great, thanks!

Any feedback would be great, thanks! I have lots of other songs to add so watch this space!
