A basic 'How to..' guide for GarageBand. I have used this with Year 7-9 students and it works as well with all groups. Any feedback, please let me know.

Useful for improving numeracy of students; task is to count the amount of accents, find the bar of a certain word, count the beats of a certain syllable etc. Handy to use as a starter to introduce the new work. Lots of other items can be added.

A range of activities for my Year 8 form to teach them about what the Chancellor does, what are his responsibilities, and for students to work out what they would rank as the most important area for investment to be made e.g. health, education, transport, housing etc. Students then have the chance to work out how much of the budget they would spend on different areas, what the effects of cuts would be and to see the sharing of England's revenue for the 2012 Budget.

Print outs of the bass guitar fretboard for students to use when learning how to play the bass guitar. Useful for class band lessons - students can read the layout to work out which notes they need and evaluate which notes sound 'better'; higher pitch or lower pitch.

Introduction into watching Hotel Rwanda on DVD. Students work out which human rights are applicable to them in school as well as viewing some of the more viewable pictures from Rwanda in 1994. There is a link to the BBC website with a compilation of news audio clips from 1994.

An A4 sheet of key features of styles of music - cut the sheet up and have pupils put them together. Can be used either as a starter or as a revision part of a lesson. You can edit/add/delete features to tailor it to your class.

A quick quiz on A Day In The Life made up of facts mainly from the AS Music Study Guide. Can be used with anthologies to get pupils started on this piece or without as a revision topic in preparation for the exam.

Useful to have an electronic version of the glossary - handy to use to cut out, have pupils work in groups to work out which words they recognise/can match up with other definitions or can be used to associate key terms with Areas of Study pieces. It saves someone else typing it up, hopefully!
