This lesson and the topic is part of a standard set of lessons looking into helping students understand the reactions of Woodrow Wilson, Georges Clemenceau and David Lloyd George once the terms of the Treaty of Versailles were announced; it allows students to understand what the ToV was, who was involved, when and why they were involved and why it was so significant. It allows them to evaluate how happy the Big Three were, which then links into future discussions about how fair and just it was. Opposition in Tsarist Russia - looking at reasons why Tsardom was so unpopular, and therefore why oppositional groups grew and ultimately assassinated Alexander II. This opposition then fed through to Alexander III’s reign and into Nicholas II’s reign and was a long term cause of the Revolution and his abdication.
