How did William gain control of England?

A very detailed resource, covering at least 3-4 lessons focusing on William and his problems, how he overcame them and how to managed to conquer England. Starts with source evaluation Then moves onto a game where the students put themselves in the shoes of William and makes decisions that give them a score. Then looks at some reading and more sources (included and attached) Then asks students to act as an advisor and write William a letter (Structure included for less able) Finally, task 4 asks students to work in groups to produce a documentary about William’s early takeover of England, October-December 1066 (up to and including his coronation on Christmas Day) Lots of interactive resources and activities (all included in the slides/ pdf) that will keep students entertained for hours.

One sheet is a very detailed worksheet of information- task - ask students to read through and summaries / limit the information to 700 words. Tsak to wee out the important information (could black out instead of highlight) One sheet is a chart for students to read through different people living in Germany at the time then do their own research on how they would be affected at different points during Nazi rule. STUDENTS MUST RESEARCH THEMSELVES so a textbook or the internet is needed. Good task to get them working solo / in pairs and actually not being spoon fed. Can come together at the end to compare and contrast ideas.

A very detailed powerpoint with a chart for students to complete as you work through it. No fancy learning here im afraid, just plain old simple teacher led learning for those times when they just need to get the information down. Could add extra activities if you wished. The information on the ppt is extensive however, so there is useful information given.
