World War 2 - Y6 - 6 week unit
This pack includes:
Powerpoint (with music, interviews, BBC teach videos, Radio broadcasts)
Plan - matches the Powerpoint
Worksheets.
This powerpoint covers all areas of WW2 and allows for children to complete their own research with given websites and resources.
Throughout this unit I did provide my class with some artifacts from both of the World Wars, however, videos or trips would have been equally as beneficial.
This topic does contain some quite disturbing content relating to the Holocaust, however, all materials used within this powerpoint ate age appropriate for Upper KS2.
Included:
When and Why the war started - key people.
Key events leading up to the war, and throughout.
Rationing.
Evacuation
The Holocaust
Womens Role throughout the war
Free lesson - for children to research what they want to know about the war (either more details about what they have learnt, or something not covered, such as Military numbers, weaponry, uniforms etc).
Ratio - Y6
This pack includes a Powerpoint, and a plan to work from. Worksheets are unavailable as they were from a Mastery company.
This powerpoint, including LO’s, Starters and Plenaries relevant to the topic, covers the following:
Using the correct language, and the symbol
Ratio and Fractions
Calculating Ratio
Scale Factors and how to calculate them
Ratio and Proportions
All lessons allow time for modelling and working with the children to answer questions.
Algebra - Y6 - Powerpoint and worksheets
I used this powerpoint with a lovely year 6 class. I had 2 lessons on expressions as they are quite a complex thing to understand.
In this powerpoint you will cover:
One step rule
Two step rule
Substitution
Expressions (Part 1)
Formulae
Expressions (Part 2) - for this lesson all of the children became spies for MI5 and they had to come up with expressions for a list of given words - understanding that 4y means 4 x y.
Y6 SPaG
This PowerPoint includes slide for the following:
Sentence Structure - Main Clauses, Subordinate Clauses, Embedded Clauses, Relative Clauses.
Word Classes - close focus of Determiners and Prepositions, small recap on Verbs, Adverbs etc.
Subject and Object of a sentence.
Active and Passive Voice.
Homophones.
SPaG can be hard to plan and explore in a way that children, and teachers, can understand together. This powerpoint makes it easy for children and teachers to work together to explain, understand and use different aspects of SPaG.
