A how to video on YouTube, and a free PDF download with instructions on how to make your own ocean slime. A fun activity for World Oceans Day, to run alongside an ocean theme, or as part of a science lesson about mixtures and compounds. The ingredients for the slime are basically water, liquid glue, liquid starch, glitter, and food colouring.

A free YouTube video and downloadable PDF file based on a substance called ambergris, produced by sperm whales and used in the making of perfumes. References to the use of ambergris during the Black Death, as part of the King of England's breakfast, and use by the ancient Egyptians.
A fun introductory topic to themes such as chemistry, World Oceans Day, environment, conservation, whales, oceans, and the seaside. But equally of use for lessons on history, geography, smoking, laws, synthetic chemicals, and smell as one of our senses.

A hand drawn activity worksheet that I created for my geography students (of all ages) in the former Soviet Republic of Georgia. The activity was to make a volcano and a fact sheet about volcanoes in a group or on their own for their homework. There was a prize for the best ones, and we invited the rest of the school to come and see them in action. It went down very well indeed! It was a great way to finish off the term, with a fun activity after studying tectonics all year.

A collection of photos of flames and fire that can be used with science lessons on the ingredients for a fire, for safety, and for energy topics.
Includes photos of my log fire at home, and photos of a camp fire at my family home in Latvia, where people like to jump over the fire on Jani's Festival or Liga Festival which takes place at the solstice. It is an age old custom and people believe that jumping over the fire will stop evil spirits casting spells on you, purification for the year ahead.
