A collection of photos of flames and fire that can be used with science lessons on the ingredients for a fire, for safety, and for energy topics.
Includes photos of my log fire at home, and photos of a camp fire at my family home in Latvia, where people like to jump over the fire on Jani's Festival or Liga Festival which takes place at the solstice. It is an age old custom and people believe that jumping over the fire will stop evil spirits casting spells on you, purification for the year ahead.

I drew this little soft winged beetle (Malthodes minimus - Malthodes minimus) for my class after I spotted it on some blossom in a tree, on my Rydal Water walk in the Lake District, Cumbria. We used it as part of our minibeasts of Britain lessons as we explored the importance of the food chain, types of food creatures eat, habitats they live in, and role of insects in the environment.

A growing collection of royalty free photos that can be used to teach the impacts of tourism on glacial landscapes such as the Lake District in England. A small collection of photos that can be used as part of a lesson on the science of reflections, or on weather, clouds, lakes and rivers. Why is it possible for me to see the clouds in the water? What do you think the weather might be like today, what things should I wear or take with me on my walk? Would I have the same image if the water was running faster?
The river Kent caused serious flooding after Storm Desmond when it burst its banks, and many people were homeless or lost businesses for more than 6 months. If you were responsible for the people in the town of Kendal, what might you do to prevent flooding of this river in the future?

A small collection of photos of Kendal, Cumbria in the Lake District, England. Can be used as part of a lesson on settlements, towns, tourism, weather, jobs, and issues affecting urban and rural areas. As well as locational knowledge about Britain.
The town of Kendal was badly affected by the flooding after Storm Desmond and is only now recovering. The floods had a huge impact on the people of the community as well as business and people having to leave their homes. How might students plan for future flood prevention and evacuation?

I created this colouring page for my students as part of our lesson on tourism in Britain. Focused on Rydal Water, home of poet William Wordsworth. I have also used the colouring page for a lesson on the environment, geography, formation of lakes, travel and tourism and finding the balance between conservation of an area and promotion to visitors. How might this scene change through the seasons? What things might you need to pack for a holiday here?

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the milky way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
