The lesson encourages pupils to think for themselves. There are hints included to help the students which can be removed for a more able class.
This is an aspect of Chemistry that many pupils struggle with. The lesson starts with a whiteboard quiz which helps pupils to revise all the moles equations they have learnt so far. The powerpoint then takes pupils through step-by-step instructions for calculations involving balanced symbol equations. Lots of examples are given. I tried this lesson with my class and by the end, all were able to do the calculations.

Engaging board game which allows pupils to explore the causes, consequences and solutions of climate change. The aim of the game is to NOT reach the finish line as this is when global disaster occurs. At the end of the game (or during if you prefer), they will fill in a sheet summarising what they have learnt about climate change.

Very engaging lesson, includes game, practical, assessment and differentiated tasks. I was observed teaching this lesson for AQA C3 a couple of years ago and was graded outstanding.
The lesson takes 2 hours so you can split it at a point that you feel appropriate (our school does 2 hour lessons as standard).
All explanations for activities can be found in the notes underneath the slide, along with picture and video credits.

Created for AQA GCSE C3, this resource will also be relevant to other specifications as well as AS Chemistry. The lesson takes pupils through step by step instructions for naming and drawing esters and provides questions for pupils to try as well as suggested follow-up activities.
Pupils will learn what a simple covalent compound is and how to draw them. Includes suggested practical which can lead into talking about the properties of simple molecules. It is important that you carry out your own risk assessment before doing any practical activities. A competitive game is included, as well as a homework sheet which will allow them to practice the main compounds that they need to know.
A fun way to practice oxidation numbers. Pupils move forwards or backwards on the board, depending on whether the oxidation number is positive or negative. My class really enjoyed this.
