This is ‘Arithmetic Dash’ a board game to support children to develop their arithmetic skills in a fun manner. My children love this game. They can play with 2-6 players and the game can be altered e.g. change the time the children get to answer a question. There is a complete game, with questions already on the board. There is also a blank game with numerous cards to pick from. Questions are all related to the KS2 Arithmetic test.

This can be used by subject leaders of anyone carrying out a Guided REading Scrutiny. It can obviously be adapted according to school ethos/practices, as it is generic.

I used these ‘6 a day’ questions at the start of every Maths lesson - there are 75 days worth, and the question become progressively harder. They cover everything which will appear in the Arithmetic KS2 test. It covers the four calculations, percentages and fractions (alongside BODMAS and squares, cubed numbers). My children in Y6 love working through these 6 a day, and after doing it for 2 years, I know it has great impact on their understanding, and also the SATs results!

This booklet can be used for revision, homework or even interventions. It contains a Reading section (fiction, non-fiction and poetry) which total 50 marks. It then contains a GPS section on some of the trickier topics. Then an Arithmetic test (20 marks), in line with the SATs test. Finally some Reasoning questions relating to the trickier topics. I used this as homework, then went through it as interventions.

This was created for a Year 6 class who were studying Skellig as their class novel. There is 4 weeks planning with resources for 3 lessons per week (the children completed practice tests on the other days). The extracts (all copyright to David Almond) and accompanied by an opening questions (3 marks), followed by 4 support questions, then a Greater depth set of questions. It also includes the accompanying Activinspire flipcharts for IWB (a freedown from Google)

This is a 4 week unit of work for (contemporary) narratives using the novel Skellig. I have used it to challenge Y6, however is draws upon KS3 ideas, so can be adapted to suit purpose. It includes 4 weeks planning and resources to accompany most lessons. It also includes the 4 PowerPoints to support the 4 weeks. This includes 3 weeks planning on historical diaries and all resources, including Activinspire flipcharts for each lesson. It is based on the stunning novel 'Once' by Morris Gleitzman about WW2 and a child fleeing to find his parents. Many resources refer to My Secret War Diary, which is excellent for using extracts. This was aimed at my Y6 class, however can be used with Y5 or Y7+ if needed. The work produced by my class was stunning and the children fell in love with the novel.

This resource is intended to use for teaching Rap Poetry to Y6 - it really captures the interest of boys. There are 8 days planning included, alongside the Activinspire charts for each day, examples of poems to use with the 3 different ability groups, a self assessment grid and pictures. The poems are copyright to the given poets.
