This scheme of work is designed to start preparing Year 9 students for GCSE by mirroring part of the ‘Urban Issues and Challenges’ section of the AQA Geography GCSE (8035) which considers a case study of a HIC city and LIC city. Since this unit focuses on two cities at the same time rather than one, the focus is often of comparison and connections rather than depth. This scheme of work is assessed by a mock GCSE tier-less examination at the end of the unit. The assessment is linked to the new GCSE 9-1 grades as well as KS3 progress ladders. As a whole unit, this scheme of work is expected to take around 14-15 hours. Not all resources could be provided. However, this scheme has been uploaded ‘as-is’ for you to use, adapt and develop as you wish, but please credit me as the original author.
