This resource provides over 30 black and white abstract images. They have been designed to allow colour to be added in a variety of ways. Some students might like to develop “realistic” pictures of actual objects or scenes by thinking carefully about which sections to apply colour to. Other students might want to use the images as a basis for pattern work, or simply apply colour in a random way. Colour can be applied using pencil crayon, felt tip or even paint. If using paint make sure that the images are printed onto appropriately robust paper. This resource is ideal for use as an extension activity towards the end of a main project.

I originally produced this resource to help my own children learn to tell the time. It has since been used extensively to support teaching time telling to children aged between 5 and 10 years of age. This fully editable letter outlines the importance of Component 2 preparatory work (GCSE and A level Art) to parents and asks for their support in encouraging their child to progress their work over the Easter holiday. Sending it out to parents before the Easter break might just help keep students motivated whilst we are not there to nag them!

GCSE Art students will soon be undertaking their 10 hour art exam. This printable handout provides prompts which encourage students to consider how they have developed their ideas and how they have linked them to observations, the work of artists, media experimentation and use of techniques. It also encourages students to think carefully about what they still need to do before the exam day and what materials and prepping is needed before exam time starts. Each prompt provides space for students to write down their thoughts. This 6 page document can then be stuck into their sketchbooks to provide further evidence to the visiting moderator that there is a clear “creative journey” and that clear links have also been made to the four Assessment Objectives. This handout has been used effectively in an Ofsted Outstanding Art department.
