I'm currently teaching 8th grade Spanish. I have taught all levels of Spanish, from kindergarten to high school, at various times in the past 17 years. I have a BA in Spanish and International Relations from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, and an MA in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. My shop includes all types of resources for Spanish and French, as well as materials for English Language Arts and ELL.

Students respond to questions about age, appearance, clothing, the meaning of the painting title, and animals in the painting. Student answers will vary, but a sample answer key is included. Also included is a page with just the painting and title that you can use to show students before they begin the activity.

Spanish Fruit Vocabulary 3 x 3 Matching Squares Puzzle - Students assemble a 4 x 4 Spanish/English vocabulary puzzle with 25 fruit words. Sample words are: aguacate, manzana, coco, naranja, melocotón, cereza, uvas, and frambuesa Each word is used only once. Just photocopy enough for a class set (1 for every 2 students if working in pairs, or 1 per student if working alone), cut and fasten with a paper clip. Distribute to students and challenge them to reassemble the puzzles as quickly as possible. There is a list of all words alongside the puzzle in Spanish and English. This can be used as verbs bookmark and reference.

Each booklet contains 8 pages: the title page with 7 additional pages. Also included are suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page. Students first cut, assemble and read the booklet that contains text and illustrations of words associated with football: ball, stadium, quarterback, fans, game, referee, and helmet. They then sketch and create their own version using the text only template. The illustration version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the vocabulary words. The text only version can be projected onto the Smart Board and students can draw pictures on the Smart Board that correspond to the text.

He describes each family member using descriptive adjectives for appearance and personality, the verbs gustar, encantar and odiar with infinitives for likes and dislikes and the verb tener for age. This download also contains the same translation from Spanish to English. Assign the Spanish to English translation first to familiarize your students with the Spanish vocabulary and then at a later date, assign the English to Spanish translation. Both can be used as answer keys to go over the homework with the students.

Spanish Family Human Bingo Game Speaking Activity and Follow-Up Assignment - This activity provides practice asking questions with tener and family vocabulary. Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must find different classmates that can reply yes when asked about the information in one of the 16 boxes. Each box contains a statement about a family member. A sample statement is "A mi padre le gusta jugar al golf." When a student replies yes to a question, the questioning student follows up by asking in Spanish for the student's signature. The goal is to be the first student to fill the entire bingo grid. Also included is a follow up worksheet that requires students to: 1. Write a sentence for each of the 16 boxes in the grid. The student includes the name of the student that signed the box and must change the verb to the third person. 2. Write an appropriate family word under 6 images at the bottom of the paper. This activity works well with students learning family vocabulary, and it's a good back to school review activity for experienced Spanish students.
