I'm currently teaching 8th grade Spanish. I have taught all levels of Spanish, from kindergarten to high school, at various times in the past 17 years. I have a BA in Spanish and International Relations from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, and an MA in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. My shop includes all types of resources for Spanish and French, as well as materials for English Language Arts and ELL.

Spanish Reflexives Paragraph Translations - English/Spanish and Spanish/English - Students practice a variety of verbs as they translate a paragraph about 2 girls getting ready and going to school in the morning. First and third person singular verbs in the preterit are used. Sample verbs are: despertarse, levantarse, bañarse, lavarse, secarse, maquillarse, afeitarse, and irse. First, have students translate from Spanish to English, then have them translate from English to Spanish after they have better understanding and have had sufficient practice with reflexive verbs and associated vocabulary. For flexibility in use, the download includes the following in both Spanish to English and English to Spanish: 1. Paragraph with lines underneath for students to write their translations 2. Paragraph with no lines to project in class 3. Paragraph copied 2 per page for student handouts.

Spanish Reflexive Verbs Human Bingo Game Speaking Activity & Follow-Up - This activity uses 16 different reflexive verbs. Examples of verbs used are acostarse, despertarse, ducharse, lavarse, vestirse, divertirse, sentirse, and dormirse. Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must find different classmates that can reply yes to each of the 16 boxes. When a student replies yes to a question, the questioning student follows up by asking in Spanish for the student's signature. The goal is to be the first student to fill the entire bingo grid. Also included is a follow up worksheet that requires students to: 1. Write a sentence for each of the 16 boxes in the grid. The student includes the name of the student that signed the box and must change the verb to the third person. 2. Write an appropriate Spanish reflexive infinitive under 6 images at the bottom of the paper. This is a fun, helpful activity for students learning reflexives, and it's also a great back to school review / get to know you activity for students with prior Spanish experience.

2 Que Quieres? La Comida Booklets - Students first read and cut out the Spanish Que Quieres? La Comida Booklet that contains text and illustrations of different foods such as hamburger, hotdog, soup, sandwich, etc. Quiero plus a food vocabulary word is repeated 7 times so students learn the word quickly and easily. They then create their own version using the text only template. Students will be eager to share their creations with family and friends which will help reinforce their language learning! Each booklet contains 8 pages. This item also includes suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page. The illustration version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the food words. The text only version can be projected onto the Smart Board and students can draw pictures on the Smart Board that correspond to the text. The booklet pages can also be used as flashcards by folding under the text.

This activity uses the preterit with 16 different weekend activities. The majority of verbs are regular. Examples of verbs are: cocinar, limpiar, escribir, caminar, ir de compras, and jugar. Students will practice 3 forms of each verb with these activities.
