I'm currently teaching 8th grade Spanish. I have taught all levels of Spanish, from kindergarten to high school, at various times in the past 17 years. I have a BA in Spanish and International Relations from Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, and an MA in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain. This activity uses ser with with personality, appearance, and professions along with various family members. Students will practice 3 forms of each verb with these activities. Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must find different classmates that can reply yes when asked about statements in each of the 16 boxes. A sample statement is, "Mi mamá es maestra en una escuela primaria." When a student replies yes to a question, the questioning student follows up by asking in Spanish for the student's signature. The goal is to be the first student to fill the entire bingo grid. Also included is a follow up worksheet that requires students to: 1. Write a sentence for each of the 16 boxes in the grid. The student includes the name of the student that signed the box and must change the verbs to the third person. Some will require students to use the possessive de. 2. Write an appropriate Spanish infinitive verb under 6 images at the bottom of the paper. These are fun activities for students learning ser, and they're also great back to school get to know you / review activities for students with prior Spanish experience. 2 pages

Use these signs to decorate your room and present, practice and review Spanish speaking countries and capitals. In addition to the official Spanish speaking countries, the presentation includes the U.S. and Puerto Rico because of the large number of Spanish speaking residents as well as Guam and the Philippines because of the Spanish influence in those 2 locations. Both Guam and Puerto Rico indicate that those 2 locations are part of the U.S. There are 3 slightly different sets included in this product to give you flexibility in your classroom. The 3 sets are: 1. Spanish speaking countries with the corresponding flags. The flag and geographic region are on the presentation and the country comes out on mouse click. 2. Spanish speaking countries with corresponding flags and capitals. The flag and geographic regions are on the presentation and then the country and capital come out one at a time on mouse click. 3. Flags for each Spanish speaking country There is a sign introducing the different geographic regions for each group (one sign for North America, Europe and Africa, one for Central America, one for the Caribbean and one for Asia/South Pacific). Students research several areas associated with holidays and festivals celebrated in Spanish speaking countries. The areas are date/s, food, events, music and dance, location, religious celebrations, countries that celebrate the holiday, and history of the holiday. Included: 1. 15 different templates, each with a different holiday and the categories listed previously. This is a fun investigative activity for students that can be completed in Spanish or English. 2. One template without the name of a holiday or festival to give you the option of adding more of either. 3. Page that includes several suggestions for using the materials such as a Foreign Language Week activity, Spanish Club activity, or just a homework assignment, to name a few. This has been used very successfully as a substitute teacher lesson in the computer lab. It's a great research activity for use with iPads or other tablets. The holidays can be researched one at a time over a period of several weeks which makes this a download of 15 assignments, or you can divide and distribute all 15 different templates and have different students working on different countries at the same time. 19 pages
