About
Regardless of the age of my students or the topic being studied, I would like all students to experience deeper understanding, retention, and transfer of subject matter. From the progressive and humanist philosophical perspectives, my goal is to “equip learners with practical knowledge and problem-solving skills, beginning with a firm understanding of the neuroscience of learning, which is of paramount importance to adults’ learning experiences. This is supported by the findings of Hagen and Park (2016). Regarding andragogy and neuroscience, Hagen and Park (2016) assert, “a look at the assumptions through the lens of cognitive neuroscience helps to establish why each of these, do indeed, provide a more encompassing and comprehensive educational experience for adult students, from a physiological perspective” (p. 181). I believe that students learn best by engaging in authentic and mindful practice of content that is taught using pedagogy or andragogy rooted in the six MBE principles.
