I have been a Drama Teacher for around 20 Years in all sorts of schools including in a Specialist Special Needs School, alternative provision and Main Stream Schools. I have taught from (legacy) P-levels all the way to A-levels. I am also a qualified SENCo. Right now, I am teaching in an amazing school, where my life is not too disimilar to a scene from Teechers (iyknyn!) and I love it!

Drama Skills Are Life Skills Display

(0)
A display I created considering all the ways Drama Skills really are Life Skills. Including: Team work, Empathy, Creativity, Risk Taking, Belonging, (Experiencing) Failure, Reflection, Integrity It is the development and repeitition of these skills which make Drama Teachers the best in the world!! Just print them out and mix in some pictures of your pupils and you have got yourself a quick and impactful display. (I also like to mix in some Splendid Theatre Company mind maps - because then you are really talking about a lot of bang for your buck in terms of time/impact!

Main School Production - what needs doing when

Maybe its your first time being in charge of a main school production? It’s going to be great. Here is a spreadsheet that lays out what needs doing when. There are two ways of looking at it depending on how you like to organise yourself. A list of the jobs in chronological order or the categories of jobs linked together. Do not try to do all the jobs yourself - delegation is your friend! And its always alright on the night! Even when its not - we once had a county wide electricity cut and it turned out even better!
Assembly on Resillience

Assembly on Resillience

A 15-minute assembly that I created on Resilience. Looking at how success is never linear, how failure is ‘normal’ and practical ways to develop a resilient mind-set. The script for the assembly can be found on the later slides of the ppt. I used it with KS3 and KS4 but it would also be suitable for KS2.

This is a piece of writing I did to go on to my school website about The Drama Department and its approach to curriculum creation and choice. If you are having to do a similar thing - feel free to use mine as a starting point.

Drama Curriculum Map

A Drama Curriculum Map from Year 7 - 11 Wondering how to build a curriculum from scratch? Wanting to know what other departments are doing? Use mine! The foundational philosophy (yes, Arsene - I have one too!) is: SKILLS, SCRIPTS AND STYLES. These foundations connect directly to what a pupil needs to be able to recognise and apply in an A-level Theatre Studies course, even though this curriculum does not go up to this level.

Performing Arts/Drama Scripted Rehearsal Log

(0)
**Btec Performing Arts Comp 2 - Rehearsal Log ** Generic - can be used with any scripted play for any exam board AQA/Edexcel/EDUQAS The work-booklet is in two parts : Exploratory activities to help develop character Rehearsal Log I created it so that they work concurrently so we do a few exploratory tasks for homework and fill in the rehearsal log at the end of each lesson. *Please note, that this is not endorsed by the Pearson Btec Performing Arts in anyway and is a resource I created for my own class. * Pearson would not accept this as proof of Comp 2 as its too detailed (!) but it can all be used to help write the evaluation at the end.
