Hi English teachers!! We are all so busy and I am finding TES is a great new place to share resources and cut down on planning. Here I will post resources for the new GCSE specifications. I teach AQA Eng Lang and Lit - Jekyll, Inspector, Power and Conflict, Xmas Carol. I teach OCR A Level Literature and igcse resit. I also have lots of KS3 resources and starter activities which can be used for KS2 or KS3. I hope you find something of interest.

Whole lesson. Created for an entry level group working on the pscale, but can be used as a shorter activity in English lessons or tutor time for any KS2 or KS3 groups as basis for discussion on hobbies and pastimes. A big list of hobbies is included as a starter. Students have to put in the correct punctuation into the sentences, mind-map their own hobby and write five detailed sentences about it. There is an example of looking at street art. At the end of the lesson, there are prompts for a class discussion and debate on hobbies.

Lessons 1 and 2 in a half term unit on non fiction writing. Enough for two hours, maybe more. Was made for a Year 8 class at KS3, but can be used for KS4 as well. 16 slides with nice presentation Revision on audience and purpose and different examples of how to write formally, with some examples which the students can critique and make suggestions. Two main writing tasks included. Improve the letter from the student who wants a place at the school. Names and ideas can be tweaked to suit your class. Main writing task - write a formal letter to Boris Johnson about improving a social issue in your local community. Examples of how to write the letter.
