Periodic Table Symbols and Names cardsort

This is a gem of a resource: it has 36 elements of the periodic table: their symbol along with their name. This will assist students to learn the names and symbols of elements quickly and easily. An extension to this could be getting students to put the elements in order, or to place the elements into their groups, or, for older students place the elements into their combining power sets. Have fun!

Forces and Gravity Taboo Game

(0)
This game helps students to develop their explanations and descriptions of words; to be able to ‘talk around’ certain words helps to develop examination skills for later down the line. This game of taboo involves 2-3 players. Player 1 is given a keyword that the other two players need to guess, but player 1 is given two words on their card under the heading ‘Taboo’ that they are not allowed to say. Player 1 must talk around these words and give enough clues to the other player/other two players to be able to guess what the keyword is. The keyword also cannot be said.

OCR Physics Equations matching game - All Physics equations, formulae and units

(0)
This game contains ALL 33 symbols and units used in the OCR course. It also includes all 20 equations, symbol equations and units that need to be memorised for the course. The equations and formulae and using them make up 60-70% of the exam papers, so learning them is the best way to guarantee marks! I created this game as my students have difficulty in remembering the Physics formulae and the units which go with the quantities. You can use them in a variety of ways. If you take the first and second pages and match them back to back students can ask one another the questions Or they can ‘self study’ with the cards on the table answer-side down. Or you can have them all as individual cards face up and students can match them that way. If you print each set onto a different colour of paper, when you work with them in class it will help to keep them in sets and ensure that the students do not jumble them up. Hope these help you. Great as a resource that students can use at home to help them get the equations and formulae for Physics into their heads.

iGCSE Edexcel 9-1 Section A Chemistry Biology Chpt 1&2 Revision Mat Broadsheet Bundle

(1)
This is a bundle of A3 summary sheets I made for my students using the Pearson iGCSE Student book: the questions in each box inspire students to summarise the work that they need to know for this section. THis resource includes the first two chapters of each of the Biology (Section A: Life Processes and The Variety of Living Organisms) and Chemistry (Section A: Kinetic Theory, Diffusion, Atomic Structure) topics. I am gradually adding the other Chapters as I go along. I would print each of these topics on an A3 sheet double sided, so that the same topic is on a double-sided sheet. It would also be good to pop each double sided-sheet onto a coloured A3 sheet, then you can make each topic (Bio/Chem) a different colour to easily refer to them in class.

Edexcel 9-1 Equations Revision cards

Every equation in the new specification laid out on to revision cards for you. Print them back to back or stick together if you wish. These equation cards will help you to learn the equations you need to know, and the ones that are given (because you’ll be given some in words only - you need to study the abbreviated formulae). You will need to know every unit of each quantity, whether the equation is one you need to know or it is one you are given. Happy revising! :-)

Hi all! This is a revision mat I created to help my students summarise their work bit by bit to try to keep them on top of the enormous content of the new 9-1 2016 curriculum. Hopefully it will help with revision as it is a great little activity. I contains a mixture of diagrams, calculations, questions, definitions, formulae that are needed and a touch of fun. I will be adding further resources as I create them, this one goes up to page 23 of the OCR textbook. Keep me posted on how it goes! :-)

This is a bulk-pack of the 4 most popular and useful resources for Chemistry. 4 step-by-step 'How to guides' for the 4 most important chemistry calculations in GCSE: - Calculating the percentage composition of a molecule - Working out the empirical formula of a compound - Calculating the mass of reactants and products - Calculating theoretical and actual yield Each resource includes exercises that the students can try themselves. I hope this helps you too!

OCR Physics Equations, Units and Facts that need to be learned Revision cards

(0)
Here I have combined my three excellent Physics resources: all of the facts that need to be learned, all of the equations that need to be learned and the units and symbols for all the equations. A good portion of the Physics exam is knowing the equations and being able to apply them - up to 60% of the exam (as the maths skills are incorporated into this too, and also some 4-6 mark questions rely on knowing the equations and using them to explain concepts). Not knowing these does a disservice as they are easy marks to gain, but also easy to lose. These cards will help you learn what you need in a simple and interactive way. Teachers: Why not make a few sets or class starters, putting each on a different colour of paper so they are easily re-separated.

Ecology, Environment, Cells and Living things Loop Game

Ecology, Environment, Cells and Living things Loop Game

(1)
This is a great game that matches questions about Ecology, the Environment, Cells and Living things to their answers-which are on other cards. Great for end of topic quizzes and for student's problem-solving skills. The above photograph shows more or less what the resource will look like when the game is complete and the cards are properly assembled into their loop. (This photograph is of another loop game – but same concept). This resource contains a pack of 30 cards, and is great for a class of 30 or less pupils. You can print the cards onto coloured paper and laminate them, you’ll only need 1 set per class. Each card has a question on the top and an unrelated answer at the bottom. The question at the top relates to an answer on a card elsewhere in the pack, and the answer on the bottom relates to a question elsewhere in the pack. This game is excellent because students need to be able to answer each question to be able to locate the answer on another card, and they need to understand and be able to work out what the question would be for a particular answer to locate the question. This is a subtle but effective way to teach students both content and exam technique: because the skill of knowing the answer in a test or quiz is never enough: they also need to be able to work out with what question the answer will be prompted. Have fun!

iGCSE Edexcel 9-1 Biology Curriculum Roadmap (for teaching over 2 years) and Learning Objectives

Use this resource to schedule the new iGCSE 9-1 Biology Curriculum over 2 years. This provides the Learning objectives for Double (Paper 1 only) or Triple Biology (Papers 1 & 2). The roadmap shows how to timetable and schedule it all into the terms while leaving adequate space for revision. Hope it is helpful. I also have resources that summarise chapters onto single A3 pages to assist students with their learning; please check out my available resources. :-)
