Hi there! I'm both an English and Geography teacher in London. I am currently working in an Outstanding school which is my second Outstanding school of my career in London after teaching in both Ireland and the Middle East. My resources are both English & Geography resources where I like to give the student an active role in their learning. This resource was used as part of a lesson observation with a lower set. The resource includes a differentiated starter task and also two main tasks where students annotate the scene using prompts. This is to be done in pairs. It also has a plenary. The main outcome of this lesson is to show how the different social classes influences The Policeman’s treatment of both Ms Johnstone and Mr Lyons.

This is a full scheme of work unit I created for ‘Of Mice and Men’. The bundle includes everything you need including a 40 page SOW and also 20 PowerPoint lessons. Each lessons have a structure of a ‘Do Now’, Think-Pair-Share, Information, Main Task and Plenary along with others. The 40 page SOW is a detailed description of each lesson and can be used as a guide. By buying as a bundle it saves you over £30!! The bundle only allows 20 resources. The other 4 resources are close marking exams and feedback sessions which are found on my page for free. These are templates but you can edit them to your needs.

This is a comprehensive overview of a scheme of work I created as Head of English. This links to the specific reading and writing strands from the National Curriculum. This lesson starts by taking students real-life knowledge into account by starting the class by asking students to write how the weather outside makes them feel? The lesson then builds on this knowledge by giving students extra information. The main activity is to read a chapter from The Hobbit where pathetic fallacy is used.

This lesson was given during an Ofsted observation as part of a Vocational Humanities group but it can also be used for a Geography class while studying tsunami’s. The lesson is in relation to the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami and opens with a movie trailer of The Impossible to give students a visual of a tsunami. Students then are to write what is happening in each diagram and use key words to describe the processes involved within a tsunami.

This PowerPoint starts with a re-cap on context from Northern Ireland. It then gives students information on the many layers within the poem and also what Longley’s main message is. The students are then asked to answer questions on the poem-these are displayed within the PowerPoint and leads to discussion. Before moving to a diary entry, students are asked to choose a statement. This is to assess the students understanding of the poem before moving forward. The lesson finishes with a plenary to assess students learning. This is lesson two of Longley’s poem Wounds. The first is relating to context.

Banquo’s Ghost scene is one of the key scenes within Macbeth. This lesson allows students to imagine they are 1) Banquo’s Ghost and 2) The Attendants at the Banquet. This is done by a visual aspect via a video where it allows the students feel as if they are present. They also have to highlight Lady Macbeth’s role in this scene before close analysis of the scene in pairs.
