A case study of Mumbai linked to the specification requirements is also included . Two versions are included with a simpler version pitched at what is needed for a level 4. This makes it ideal for evaluation questions. The Power-point has differentiated objectives linked to numerical GCSE grades. Teacher notes are included for each slide with suggestions on possible approaches. The emphasis is on getting students to engage with the activities and demonstrate understanding. A series of three self contained worksheets that deal with the global shift of manufacturing. They all have resource material and a past GCSE exam question included. They are based on the AQA A Syllabus, Globalisation Unit. They could be adapted to other syllabi, as the concepts are quite generic. Useful as AFL and exam question practice but would also work well as cover resources.
A complete lesson with no additional resources required, updated November 2020 for the AQA 9-1 Geography GCSE. The Power-Point covers the key concepts with clear diagrams and video links. Also included are worksheets that cover the 3 cell model formation and how high and low pressure is linked to climate at the equator, the deserts and the UK.

Therefore it can be used comfortably with Year 8 and 9 groups. A standalone lesson but other subsequent lessons look at the structure in more detail and Hurricane Katrina as a case study. Covers the cause of tropical storms and how they are distributed across the globe. Emphasis is on explanation and sequencing.
A KS3 version of the GCSE resource available elsewhere. This focuses on the activity itself. The objectives link to the new 9-1 GCSE Levels but stop at Level 6. Therefore it can be used with Years 7, 8 and 9.
This is a 40 mark assessment that covers the tectonic hazards section of the new AQA GCSE course. It should last an hour. The exam questions follow the new assessment style but I have simplified the multi- choice questions to reduce photocopying costs. A 9 mark 'assess' extended response question is included to allow access to the highest grades. Also included is a full mark scheme.
A fully resourced lesson that addresses how to reduce the effects of hurricanes. Lesson is good to go with no additional resources required. The Power-point has differentiated objectives linked to the new levels. Teacher notes are included on the slides. It uses Bangladesh and the USA as examples with the use of public information films and hurricane shelters. A photo annotation task is also included. Suitable for all new GCSE specifications but written for the AQA syllabus.
This lesson concentrates on the wide range of evidence available for climate change. It covers the historical evidence, glacial retreat, ice cores, direct temperature readings through to recent changes in sea ice coverage. It is designed to be used with the Oxford Textbook with a graphic organiser linked to the double-page spread but plenty of video links are included for variety and the book is not necessary. but other sources can be used instead. A range of options is included to cover the material, depending on the sources available. A graphic organiser has been kept relatively generic to allow for a variety of texts/sources to be used but it is ideal if using the Oxford Textbook. Differentiated questions have also been included.
A complete lesson that explores the various causes of deforestation. Whilst it makes some reference to the Oxford Textbook the information is included with the resource and so the lesson can be used as a standalone activity. The information is presented as a diamond 9 activity to encourage analysis of the information and a more evaluative approach. A variety of exam style questions are included to demonstrate the difference between 6 and 9 mark questions. Very little preparation is required - simply print off the statements for the diamond 9 activity.
This lesson covers the processes associated with glaciation. Weathering, erosion, transportation and deposition processes are all covered. No other resources are necessary as a summary sheet is included but the power-point does make reference to the new Oxford textbook. A consolidation sheet with examination questions is also included as an assessment activity.
This is a KS3 version of the GCSE activity that can be found elsewhere. Objectives have been altered accordingly but still relate to the new numerical GCSE levels. A variety of activities are included to encourage students to explore the various contributory factors. various differentiated assessment activities are also included. A complete lesson requiring no additional preparation.
