A fun quiz of the year for AS Biology (AQA) - it is likely to overlap with other exam board specifications, but I cannot vouch for this! It contains nearly 90 Questions and it easily lasts an hour.
Covers a range of topics, particularly from Biological molecules and cells topics, and has some more serious sections - identifying molecules/ proteins, and some less biology related rounds - flags / womens world cup badges.
I have created a 1% club round based on the style of questions in the TV series, which my students have loved (those that watch actual telly and not Netflix at least!)
I run it as a pub-style quiz. Groups of 2-4 students, and they mark each others after a round
All answers are provided
*one round (6Questions) is based on the 2023 Women’s world cup - this could be updated to 2024 Men’s world cup badges… or beyond!
2 double-sided worksheets on sampling plants.
Perfect for the British summers or consolidation of the required practicals.
One is a sheet on a belt transect, the other is a sheet on random sampling.
Both sheets involve data analysis and working scientifically skills.
Suited to the AQA Ecology topic 7, but will be relevant to other exam boards where plant sampling is required.

A PowerPoint presentation which you can use to guide your students through a rat dissection with an accompanying sheet which allows students to identify and colour organs in thoracic and abdominal views

A two-sided worksheet in which students can identify a variety of organs and colour them in. One side is a thoracic view, the other an abdominal. Goes well along side my PowerPoint presentation which can be used to help guide students through the dissection
INCLUDES A FREE END OF YEAR 1 AS QUIZ!!!
6 worksheets on Solutions, Uncertainties, logs, log graphs, exponential increases, percentages and standard deviation. Answers included. Plus a fun and engaging relay quiz on a plethora of maths skills. Good revision
This is a work sheet on Maths skills for Biologists, which focusses on Logarithms and guides students through how to use their calculator to work out log calculations. It includes a comprehensive markscheme. The seconds side just includes a PPQ involving natural logs from a past paper.

Engaging activity on DNA replication - students work through the sheet using pipe cleaners to explain why the evidence proves replication is semi-conservative and not conservative or dispersive. Focusses on the experiment involving bacteria grown on heavy and light N isotopes. All you will need are 2 pipe cleaners of one colour, and 14 of another colour, per group (cut them into shorter ones to make them go further!). It is a student led activity - the presentation is a markscheme which allows you to work through the correct answers via useful PowerPoint animations
A Level Biology Maths Skills - Revision - Solutions and Dilutions
A worksheet based activity consisting of 2 sides
This worksheet explores volume conversions, calculating how much mass of a substance is required to make up a particular concentration, how to dilute a stock solution, and how to perform serial dilutions. The second side is exam style questions.
Markscheme included - handwritten as the working out is all fully shown
Genetic Engineering Cut and Stick Activity
Students can sequence the process of making human insulin using genetically engineered bacteria. The sheet has a scaffoled space for them to stick their answers down and there are then follow-up questions on the second side.
Projectable answers are also included
A three sided worksheet and answers.
Tackles questions to do with uncertainties within measurements.
Has questions to do with single measurements, dual measurements, multiplying uncertainties and powers - links to the AQA Biology specification and the Practical handbook.
A Level Biology Maths Skills - Logarithms, Log graphs and exponential increases worksheet
4 sides and all answers included.
The Worksheet gives brief summaries of the skills involved in working with factors of 10 and logarithms, as well us using 2 to the power functions for calculating the exponential increase of cell populations.
2 pages focus on dealing with log scales on graphs.
My students have found these particularly useful, and these are definitiely an area for marginal gains with the examboard. The logarithmic question for AQA 2023 paper 3 was poorly answered with 17% of candidates not even attempting the question. The log graph question in 2023 paper 1 saw only 7% of students achieve 2 marks.
GCSE blood components task - cut and stick activity for students to link function to the components of the blood. There are extension questions below the table and projectable answers too on a PowerPoint file
Four worksheets that I have recently written in order to update some old resources that I was using. They are aimed at the Cells 3.2 AQA topic.

Cells and Mitosis recall worksheet (2 sided)
Antibody structure and function
HIV
ELISA tests
A revision sheet for the AQA GCSE Biology topic ‘Studying Cells’.
This is a visual sheet with various questions, colouring activities and CLOZE tasks. It gives an overview of the whole of the topics- cell structure, magnification, mitosis and the cell cycle, stem cells and transport across membranes.
I have produced this with my foundation students in mind, who are perhaps lacking motivation with the exam season fast approaching.
There is a set of dominoes included which contain 15 dominoes which students can cut out to form a loop of Q&A for the cells topic. the formatting of these dominoes looks wring on the preview but I can assure you it is fine when you download then
