Teach CCSS with Moana’s Song Shiny! Use this short 3 minute song to teach a ton of CCSS standards. Explore how lyrics reveal what Tamatoa feels about himself and how he responds to those feelings. Compare Tamatoa to Maui, identify metaphors and discuss what they mean in the context of the song.

A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Movie Viewing Guide | Worksheet | Google (1973) is a short, 30 minute activity great for a quick, no-prep Thanksgiving lesson. Challenge your students to think critically about the meaning of Thanksgiving, and learn a life lesson in communicating clearly from the misunderstanding between Charlie Brown and Peppermint Patty. This can also make a great substitute lesson since it is unrated and certainly appropriate for all audiences.

Discuss how much clean energy is enough and local/global clean energy production. Evaluate engineering solutions such as the ones used in the Great Wall and in the Shanghai Tower. Challenge students to think about Hexxus and what happened to Ralph and Tony in the Leveler to the way humans sometimes act in the real world. Encourage students to apply what they have learned about context to what characters say in the film. For example when Batty tells Zak, "Truth doesn’t always win friends, but it certainly influences people.”

This Rosie Revere, Engineer Read Aloud Book Guide accompanies the 2013 children’s book by Andrea Beaty and helps students explore the concept of failure and how to respond to it. Challenge students to analyze Rosie’s character, how she responds to failure and the important lesson that she learns. Ask students to compare the illustrations of the inventions in the book, pick their favorite and also create, draw and label their own. Finally, create your own stanza of poetry following the same rhyming structure of A-A-B-B.
