This FREE reader’s theater script for The Birth of Jesus is based on the accounts from Luke 2 and Matthew 1 & 2. This resource includes two differentiated versions for grade levels 3~5 and 6~8., each version is designed with age-appropriate language and Flesch-Kincaid reading scores. This story focuses on the themes of Hope, Faith, and God’s Protection. This short script should take about +15 minutes to read depending on your classroom’s level. They are perfect for supplementing bible class, reading practice, small group reading, centers/stations or just getting comfortable reading in public. This script tells the story of the birth of Jesus. Joseph and Mary travel to Bethlehem because of a census. When they arrive, there’s no room at the inn, so they stay in a stable. Jesus is born there and laid in a manger. Angels tell shepherds about Jesus’ birth, and they visit him. Wise men from the East follow a star to find Jesus and bring him gifts. King Herod wants to harm Jesus, but Joseph is warned in a dream, and the family escapes to Egypt. Later, they return safely to Nazareth, where Jesus grows up.
