A 4 page booklet on Public and Personal Documents, plus a little advantage and disadvantage sheet. Easy to follow. Takes one lesson, maybe longer.

Global Politics Literacy Mat

This is a literacy mat I used in my IB Global Politics class where most students are EAL. It contains key spelling, command words, useful connectives, key terminology etc. Print it off, laminate it and leave it on the desks. Can also be used as a display if you so wish. Designed with IB in mind but certainly transferable to other curricula.

Theory of Knowledge: Natural Sciences and Climate Change

This is a whole lesson for TOK based on Climate Change, Natural Science and Contested Knowledge. Follow the PPT. Check the notes for the link to YouTube videos and the relevant articles. It should follow on from the Natural Science lesson I did on Space which is uploaded as well.

Experiments- Sociology

Just some resources for AS Level Sociology on types of Experiments. Use in conjuction with the Reliable-Valid worksheet I uploaded. Simple, but effective. Enough to get some good discussions out of the class. No PPT. I never bothered with a PPT for this topic. I used videos of Milgram, Jane Elliot, Stamford Prison Experiment and Bandura’s Bobo Doll.

Theory of Knowledge and the Natural Sciences and Religion

This a full lesson, probably two if you drag it out, on how Natural Science knowledge systems conflate with Religious knowledge systems. It’s all here and good to go, though please see the notes before you teach it. It is easy to understand and follow. It’s really designed as a follow up to my previous two lessons on this topic.

Theory of Knowledge: What is Art

This is just a lesson I put together on What is Art. Probably the only lesson to ever have been created with a comparison of Katy Perry and Rammstein. Substitute the Manchester stuff from your hometown or where you are teach or something. The lesson basically teaches itself.

Comparing Ancient Rome to Ancient Egypt

(0)
A full lesson designed for online learning and in class learning comparing Ancient Rome to Ancient Egypt. This presupposes that Ancient Egypt was taught before Rome. The lessons are easily adaptable, and contain full scaffolding and modelling. Designed for the end of Grade 6/Year 7, but can be used and adapted for higher or lower.

Theory of Knowledge: Why do people believe Conspiracy Theories

This is a full lesson, probably 2 depending on your timetable, about the nature and validity of conspiracy theories. It first discusses Flat Earthers, and then students conduct their own research into one of six conspiracy theories. This is a good start of topic lesson, and could be expanded into a presentation or debate. Links to videos in the notes.

Here is a lesson which is about TOK and the Universe. It ends with Poppers falsification theory. It’s all about the scientific method and how do we gather scientific knowledge. Watch this before: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iy7NzjCmUf0&t=325s

“Sirrrrrrrr… can you do us a thing with all the case studies in?” Erm… no. You can do it yourself. Should be handy for revision. Probably can be adapted for other subjects.
Welfare Spending

Welfare Spending

(0)
This is a task to indicate the difficulties of welfare spending in poorer countries. Print the sheet off and enlarge to A3. Give students a budget (i start off with 200 Billion) and let them spend. They have to spend incrementally, so if they want everything in one area it costs 55 Billion). After they have done this, slash the budget to 30 billion and do the same task.

This is a literacy mat designed for Humanities classes. It focuses on general skills, command terms, key terminology etc. The actual content is on the 2nd slide. It is particularly useful for any EAL students, or SEN student. It is designed to be one slide PPT slide, which you can print off and then laminate.

Factors Impacting Choice of Sociological Research Method

This is a basic task which should be completed near the start of any research method topic. It’s a pretty basic sort the cards out into the right box task, the actual table should be printed on A3 and the cards cut out on card. Once stuck on correctly, students should have this table on their desks whilst each individual method is being taught.
