One hundred questions in 60 minutes. This quiz can be done individually; in pairs or in groups depending on the size of the A Level class. It enables students to revise the content of the Year 12 course through competition, and is fun as an end of term activity. I often give prizes to the students who score the highest, although I have never had a 100% success yet!!! The questions are challenging and require 1 word/one sentence answers. Answers are included for self-assessment. This resource assesses and consolidates student knowledge while they are having fun.

This resource enquires into the relative prosperity of the USA by 1963 through a comparison with the presidencies of the previous post-war presidents. It also investigates youth culture; feminism and the new left. It contains a range of activities including the interrogation of contemporary source materials and the opportunity to write 2 exam style essays with structured plans and AFL for success. This has been created for AQA unit The American Dream, but is suitable for any A level board or higher attaining GCSE students. It would take about 3 hours to complete.

This lesson covers the case study for key topic 1 for the new EDEXCEL GCSE History breadth study Migrants in Britain. It looks at the city of York under the Vikings. This contain all of the knowledge that students need for the exam; a practice causation question, and opportunities for discussion and evaluation throughout. This case study should be taught at the end of key topic 1 - Migration in Medieval England. If all activities are covered the duration of the lesson will be 2 hours. Suitable for all ability groups. This lesson has been created to prepare students for their GCSE mocks and public examinations. It is the third lesson in a set of skills lessons which helps them revise and master source utility questions. The lesson starts by explaining how to get full marks on a source utility question, and then solidifies student learning through AFL modeling and repetition. This lesson contains material based on the Weimar and Nazi Germany depth study (USA Conflict at home and abroad also available). It takes about an hour to teach and enables students to practice their source skills.
